The Department of Student Activities (DSA) at the University of Connecticut announces the opening of a full-time Financial Records Coordinator (Financial Assistant 1).

The Financial Records Coordinator will assist in the provision of program and administrative support functions including, but not limited to, general bookkeeping services in support of one or more trustee student organizations and the Trustee Student Organization Support area.

Reporting to the Administrative Specialist in the Undergraduate Student Government (USG), this position will provide administrative and programmatic support, including but not limited to: assist in the provision of financial and administrative support of Tier III/Trustee Student Organizations, staff and student leaders; respond to and assist in resolving a variety of financial questions and issues related to Trustee Student Organization Support funding and University policies, processes and procedures; assist with the processing of accounts payable, purchasing, and accounts receivable transactions; process daily bookkeeping transactions including those involving cash, check, credit, credit card, and ACH deposits, check payments and reimbursements; arrange travel for students funded by USG using university systems; assist in maintaining and monitoring accurate financial records for Tier III/Trustee Organizations, including inventory and bank accounts; assist in the preparation of financial statements and makes available timely and accurate financial information, in both detail and summary form, including reports on request; responsible for providing, supporting and participating in programs, services, and initiatives focusing on social justice and the fostering of a campus community that is more diverse, equitable, and inclusive to all; assist in the collection and analysis of program evaluation/assessment data and the proposal of program/service improvement recommendations; serves on university/department committees and attend department staff meetings as required; may assist and/or responsible for one or more aspect(s) of an assigned special projects, programs or services, which may be ongoing or short-term; may supervise students (undergraduate and/or graduate).


  1. Associate’s degree AND two years of experience in accounting, bookkeeping or a related field OR an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  2. Articulated commitment to, demonstrated understanding of and/or experience working with diverse populations.
  3. Demonstrated ability to communicate information effectively.


  1. Experience and/or ability to attend to detail and the ability to be precise with quantitative data.
  2. Demonstrated interpersonal skills necessary for building professional relationships and providing customer service.
  3. Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  4. Demonstrated experience being responsible for multiple tasks at the same time.
  5. Articulated ability to apply policies and procedures.
  6. Experience working with university financial systems and related software platforms.


Full-time position, 35 hours a week. The anticipated salary for this position is $41,531 with excellent benefits.
