Job Details
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
•Develops opportunities and educates students about employment in the public service
•Actively participates in the public service legal community
•Reviews resumes and cover letters of students applying for public service positions, including judicial clerkships
•Identifies information about public service employment opportunities for students and alumni
•Provides interview preparation
•Educates students on summer funding and post-graduate fellowships; preparation of resource materials and programs
•Works closely with related student organizations
•Develops and maintains close working relationships with public service employers and government entities.
This is a full-time on campus position.
The position will require attendance at events on Long Island and in New York City as needed.
Evening hours are occasionally required.
Qualifications:A law degree is required. Excellent organizational, written, and oral communication and interpersonal skills and an ability to work independently and as a member of a larger student services team are required. Presentation skills necessary. Prior experience working in the public sector or legal career coaching experience, with particular emphasis on public service career counseling, is strongly preferred.
