ABOUT MGH INSTITUTE:

MGH Institute of Health Professions is a graduate school in Boston that provides entry-level and post-professional programs in Nursing, Communication Sciences and Disorders, Genetic Counseling, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, and Physician Assistant Studies. The PhD in Rehabilitation Sciences and a PhD and Master of Science in Health Professions Education have been added in recent years to meet rising demand for highly educated health care professionals, educators, and researchers. Integrating classroom learning with research and clinical experience, the Institute grants doctoral degrees, master's degrees, awards certificates of advanced study, and offers continuing education to practicing professionals.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Digital Media Graphic Designer will create visual elements for digital delivery in varying formats (including print, online, video, and animation), primarily for course content in the Institute’s D2L Brightspace learning management system and across social media platforms and consistent with response design for use on computers, laptops, tablets and mobile devices. Reporting to the Senior Instructional Technologist, the Digital Media Graphic Designer will be part of the Institute’s course design and development team while also creating digital assets for the web site and social media.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Design and develop digital visual elements and assets within required mediums as a component of course and curriculum content. (55%)
  • Collaborate with the course design and development, web and social media and program-specific teams in the development of digital assets. (20%)
  • Design solutions for projects across all supporting mediums including digital and print to support the marketing, recruitment and retention of students and participants. (15%)
  • Develop and implement consistent graphic design and identity standards across courses, curriculum, programs and schools primarily for use in the learning management system, web sites and social media platforms. (10%)


Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:

    Bachelor’s degree in graphic design or a related field.3+ years’ experience in graphic art, illustration or the design of digital visual elements and assets, preferably within higher education.Knowledge of digital/mobile design, graphic design software, photography/illustration, and print production techniques.Experience with video production/editing, front-end web development, working within the development cycle for complex web initiatives.Knowledge of Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, XD, and Acrobat and online collaboration and project management software.Experience with HTML, CSS, digital media production for web, and using learning and content management systems.
