Budget Specialist

The College of Education is seeking a Budget Specialist to provide accounting and budget support to the College of Education.

Description
Review, monitor and report all financial data for the College of Education state, self-support, agency and grant budgets. Assist the College of Education Deans, faculty and staff with financial and budget processes. This includes submitting required paperwork for payroll and financial services, placing orders, processing registrations, memberships, student hiring process and other related functions. Maintain financial tracking systems for data such as faculty additional compensation, contingent contracts, travel, professional development, student employees, grants, faculty and staff payroll, research projects and TU Foundation accounts. Monitor and report financial data for College of Education programs such as the Teacher Academy of Maryland, The Maryland Writing Project, University Childcard Center, Educators Rising, research projects, and TU Foundation projects such as France Merrick and Kahlert funds. Enter budget transfers, journal entries, budget amendments, reallocations,
interdepartmental transfers, and on line invoices for special programs. Review and monitor TU Foundation College of Education accounts, process required forms for expenditures and work with faculty for required processes for the TU Foundation. Monitor grant budgets, work with grant PI's to process paperwork for expenses, assist in budget reports and student scholarship paperwork.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • Three years of accounting experience.  
  • Detail oriented in accounting and budgeting.
  • Experience in processing financial reports, using accounting software and proficient in using Microsoft Office.
  • Interpersonal and collaborative skills.

Preferred: 

  • Knowledge and experience with the State of Maryland and University System of Maryland financial process.

A Criminal Background Investigation is required for the hired candidate and the results may impact employment.
