The Coordinator for Recruitment provides support to both nationwide and in-state recruitment efforts as part of the Office of Undergraduate Admissions’ recruitment program.
The Coordinator will primarily be responsible for managing the Gamecock Alumni Recruitment Network (GARNet) program. This includes maintaining an active database of alumni recruiters and providing them with regular communication and opportunities to get involved. The Coordinator will also implement recruiting strategies year-round in locations dependent upon the needs of the office to maintain University representation in various markets across the country and the state when additional support is needed. This requires extensive travel as well as night and weekend work. The Coordinator will utilize exceptional travel-planning, customer service, relationship-building, and presentation skills in order to present students, parents, and high school counselors with up-to-date information about the University of South Carolina student experience and advise them on admissions policies and procedures.
When in-house, the Coordinator will assist with front-desk coverage and meet with walk-in visitors. They will review applications for admission to UofSC, as well as for the University’s top scholarship programs, and serve as liaison with other campus offices and academic units of the University. The overall purpose of the Coordinator is to take an active role in proposing new and creative ideas to ensure prospective students have been personally, effectively, and knowledgeably served, while working for the highest yield of enrolled students from the admitted group.Minimum Qualifications (Classified and Unclassified positions):
Masters degree in Student Services or related field, or bachelor’s degree and 2 years related experience.

•Knowledge and familiarity of UofSC.Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
•Background experience in admissions, customer service, marketing, sales, public relations, or another student personnel area.
•Relate well to people, have an engaging personality, and be able to speak with confidence in front of groups, including making public presentations before large groups of people.Safety Sensitive or Security Sensitive:
•Exceptional customer service skills to ensure positive, brand-promoting interactions with prospective students / families, guidance counselors, and other constituents.
•Exceptional workplace flexibility and travel-planning skills.
•Able to effectively build relationships with constituents.
•Knowledge of secondary and post-secondary school systems.
•Able to read and evaluate academic credentials as well as market data for assigned territories.
•Able to operate a personal computer.
•Able to make public presentations to groups, counsel individuals, and maintain confidentiality of student credentials.
•May be required to organize special programs.
•Will be required to travel alone in assigned geographic location.
•Ability to drive during the day as well as at night.
•Must have strong writing skills.
