This is a Grant Funded Part-Time position working 20 hours per week located in Knoxville, TN

POSITION DURATION: July 1, 2021 to June 30, 2024

JOB SUMMARY/ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:  

The Early Interventionist (EI) will provide direct developmental therapy services through home-based environments and/or virtually to fulfill a grant contract with the Tennessee Early Intervention System (TEIS). The grant is operated by the Department of Audiology & Speech Pathology's Pediatric Language Clinic (PLC). This position requires compliance with clinic policies/procedures and state/federal guidelines.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  

  1. Provide direct patient care under the guidelines of TEIS. 
  2. Implement services with children and families using knowledge of strategies of Family Guided Routines Based Intervention (FGRBI).
  3. Complete routinely scheduled assessments using the Assessment, Evaluation, and Programming System (AEPS).
  4. Manage program data using Tennessee’s Early Intervention Data System (TEIDS) related to grant requirements.
  5. Manage patient charts including session documentation, correspondence, records request, letters to other professionals, and maintain files in compliance with licensure regulations.
  6. Establish and maintain collaboration with other professionals providing services for PLC clients, including attendance at Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP) meetings, Transition meetings, and Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings.
  7. Attend PLC professional meetings; participate in activities to remain current with evidence-based practice needed for programming and to maintain grant requirements.
  8. Travel to home and community sites to provide services as indicated on the children’s IFSP (If TEIS determines home-visiting to be safe).
  9. Perform other duties as assigned.


Qualifications
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS 

Bachelor’s degree (Master’s Preferred) in Speech Language Pathology, Early Childhood Special Education, Early Childhood Education, Child and Family Studies (child development), Early Intervention, Deaf Education or Visual Disabilities, Special Education K-12, Elementary Education, Communication Disorders or related field. Three (3) years documented experience working with children with disabilities 0-5 years of age and their families.

ADDITIONAL APPLICATION MATERIALS:

Resume; College transcripts; Three (3) Letters of Recommendations; Valid TN Driver's license; Fingerprinting (required by TEIS if hired).  If candidate is a Speech Language Pathologist, they must be licensed to practice in the State of Tennessee.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

    Ability and skill to provide assessment/treatment services to children with developmental disabilities.Knowledge of basic communication principles and parameters.
    Skilled in implementing clinical practices of developmental therapy and/or speech-language pathology.Ability to display an attitude of sensitivity to the needs of clients as members of larger familial, cultural, linguistic, and social systems.
WORK SCHEDULEThis position may require occasional overnight travel.

VALID DRIVERS LICENSE REQUIRED. FINGERPRINTING IS REQUIRED BY TENNESSEE EARLY INTERVENTION SYSTEM (TEIS)
