  • Position Description:

    The ideal candidate will assist the Department of Anesthesiology in all phases of clinical research.  This will include both ongoing research projects as well as the preparation of proposals for IRB and grant approvals.  Under direction of the of the Director of Research for the Department of Anesthesiology, the CRC is responsible for managing the conduct of all delegated clinical trial procedures and activities as well as human subject research studies supported under the auspices of the Department of Anesthesiology. Performs all clinical research nursing duties related to clinical trial research protocols. The candidate may also be asked to assist in the preparation of lectures, presentations, and the publications of the above research.  The hours may be variable. 

    Qualifications:

    Education and Experience:

      Current State of Ohio Registered Nurse licensure required.  BSN preferred.
    • Clinical experience required; research experience preferred. Ability to work in a clinical environment including in the operating room.
    • Current, active CPR certification at time of hire required and maintained.HIPAA certification must be completed within 2 weeks of hire.CITI training through IRB obtained within 2 weeks of hire.Working knowledge of Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and training.Knowledge and experience with IRB applications strongly preferred.Familiar with research protocols, grant writing and preparation of clinical data for publication.Preferred to have experience in execution and oversight of clinical and non-clinical research studies. Preferred to have knowledge of or experience in simulation-based medical education.
     Communication and other skills:

      Must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills as this position requires direct contact with patients, as well as the various funding agencies, IRB, and research and grants.  Must be self-directed. Must be computer literate with the ability to learn new software programs as required.Must have excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.Must have ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

    Working Conditions:This position requires a flexible work schedule. The environmental conditions of this position will be comprised of both an office setting and a clinical setting, with inpatient and outpatient potential. Some travel may be required. Research being completed in the clinic setting will have the potential for exposure to infectious materials, such as human blood or tissues.
