The Department of Kinesiology and Community Health is accepting applications for a Visiting Training Specialist. The successful candidate has the unique opportunity for significant professional growth in contributing to the development and delivery of career development-related technical assistance to State vocational rehabilitation (VR) agencies. As a collaborating partner with the Vocational Rehabilitation Technical Assistance Center on Quality Employment (VRTAC-QE) at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, from 2020-2025 we will be developing and delivering career development-related technical assistance to State VR agencies. The goal of the VRTAC-QE is to upgrade and increase the competencies, skills, and knowledge of State VR agencies and their affiliates to enhance capacity to implement and sustain employment strategies to enable individuals with disabilities to achieve quality employment and career advancement.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Develop and deliver live, in-person, and online career development-related universal technical assistance through webinars, workshops, conferences, and other methods.

Develop and deliver asynchronous career development-related universal technical assistance.

Develop career development-related training protocols that include a training manual, training materials, and competency items.

Develop and disseminate career development-related technical assistance resources including fact sheets, article summaries, case study vignettes, literature reviews, presentations at state and national professional meetings, and manuscripts for submission to professional journals.

Participate in the design and implementation of intensive and targeted technical assistance that contributes to the development and growth of the project and responds to needs identified by the funder and stakeholders.

Coordinate and facilitate logistical activities and meetings.

Assist with submitting reports on progress toward meeting goals and objectives.

Disseminate information on project activities and outcomes to stakeholders.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

Master’s degree in Rehabilitation Counseling or a related field.

Experience in developing and delivering professional development activities.

Evidence of effective oral and written communication skills.

Preferred:

Doctoral degree in Rehabilitation Counselor Education, Rehabilitation Psychology, Counseling Psychology, or a related field (ABD considered).

2 years as a vocational rehabilitation counselor.

Experience in providing vocational rehabilitation counseling and career development services to individuals with disabilities.

Familiarity with State VR agencies and the State-Federal VR program.

Commission on Rehabilitation Counselor Certification.

SALARY

Competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Appointment Status and Start Date

This is a full-time (100%), 12 month Visiting Academic Professional appointment. As this position is grant funded, it is subject to the continued availability of funding and programmatic need. The proposed start is as soon as possible after the closing date. Interviews may take place prior to the closing date; however, no decision will be made until after that date.

Research

Undergraduate Education

The University has a fundamental commitment to undergraduate education. Nearly 28,000 undergraduate students are enrolled in nine undergraduate divisions, which together offer some 4,000 courses in more than 150 fields of study.
