Job Description

The Health & Kinesiology program at Texas A&M University-San Antonio is a growing department with approximately 400 majors. Undergraduate students choose between three concentrations: Pre- Physical Therapy, Exercise Science, and Physical Education as well as a minor in Health. We also offer a Master’s of Science in Kinesiology. Our faculty members are actively involved in research and in professional organizations in their respective fields.

The College of Education & Human Development, Department of Counseling, Health & Kinesiology, seeks candidates for a Lecturer in Health & Kinesiology for fall, 2021. The appointment is to teach a broad range of courses in physical education and exercise science at the undergraduate level, the equivalent of four 3-credit hour courses during fall and spring semesters.

This is a grant-funded position. Grant funded positions are time-limited and are contingent upon sufficient grant funding.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • The successful candidate will join an intellectually stimulating and innovative academic environment that embraces diversity.

  • Candidate will also work collaboratively with faculty to build a comprehensive Health & Kinesiology program supporting diverse populations.

  • The supervision of field based students, student teachers, and internship students are also possible.

  • Mentorship and advisement of students are essential in addition to the involvement in campus activities and other responsibilities, as deemed necessary. Quality performance will be expected in teaching, student mentorship, community service, as well as active university committee participation.

  • Teaching assignments equivalent to four 3-credit hour courses during fall and spring semesters may include day, evening, and weekend courses.

Required Education and Experience:

  • A Masters in Health & Kinesiology or related field from a regionally accredited institution.

  • Ability to work cooperatively with others and provide excellent customer service to students, employees, and the community.

  • Ability to multitask.

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Experience teaching Health & Kinesiology-related coursework at a college/university. Knowledge and skills with laboratory-based equipment for teaching purposes.

  • Familiarity with the non-traditional commuter setting. Experience teaching online and hybrid formats.
