The University Libraries at the University of Denver - comprised of the Main Library at the Anderson Academic Commons, a remote storage facility called the Hampden Center (HC), and the Bonfils Stanton Music Library in the Newman Center - is a highly collaborative organization that serves a diverse population ranging from our students, staff, and faculty to public and other academic patrons from the surrounding region. The Hampden Center is a warehouse that houses materials, not a branch-library capable of providing in-person customer service. The hours of operation are Monday - Friday, 8am -4pm. The University Libraries at the University of Denver are central to discovery and creative interaction among students and faculty, and provide collections, services, personnel, and systems that support the teaching and research programs of the University. Position Summary

Reporting to the Assistant Director of Facilities & Operations, this exempt level position will supervise the materials handling department at the University of Denvers Hampden Center, and assists with monitoring daily building activity. This position will train and supervise non-appointed staff. This position will require a great deal of flexibility, project management, and creativity; will be responsible for the daily operations of the Hampden Center: managing incoming and outgoing stored materials, supervising the scanning of Reserves and ILL requests, providing rapid retrieval of the collection, transportation to and from the Hampden Center and the University of Denver campus, communicating with storing partners, managing the ULA Amazon storefront - sales and donation pickups, tracking the space use and future growth of the HC, and insuring continuity of workflow which will provide staff and patrons the necessary materials they require. The position monitors and assists with responding to security related issues during non-operational hours, including nights and weekends.

This position will be based at the Hampden Center in Lakewood, Colorado.

Required Qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with library staff, users, including University Faculty.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to follow established procedures.
  • Experience performing detailed work in an automated system
  • Ability to prioritize and work under pressure.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously is required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous library or materials management.
  • Experience with Library Systems, such as Ex Libris Alma and/or RE:Discovery.
  • Working knowledge of LC classification schemes and subject headings.
  • Supervisory experience.
  • Prior project management experience.

Work Schedule
Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Salary Grade Number
The salary grade for the position is 6.

Salary Range
The salary range for this position is $36,000 - $46,000.

The University of Denver has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The University may ultimately pay more or less than the posted compensation range. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information, but not based on a candidates sex or any other protected status.
