Job Summary:

Supplemental Instruction (SI) Leaders are needed for the Fall 2021 OSU-COM semester courses. This position is for MS2 students leading MS1 courses.

- Facilitate one 50-minute SI session a week for the MS1 course he/she is leading.
- Facilitate one 2-hour Exam Preparation session the week before each exam for the course he/she is leading.
- Prepare for each SI session and Exam Preparation session; leaders will be reimbursed for up to two (2) hours for each SI session and up to eight hours (8) for each Exam Preparation session.
- Meet with course faculty as needed to help develop lesson plans for SI sessions and Exam Preparation sessions.
- SI Leaders will typically work between 3-10 hours a week for the duration of the course based on the course schedule and the schedule of SI activities (SI sessions and exam preparation sessions) developed by the Office of Academic Success; SI Leaders will not work more than 10 hours per week.
- SI Leaders will be required to attend training throughout the semester as scheduled by the Office of Academic Success.

Position Qualifications:

Requirements:
- Current OSU-COM MS2 student
- Previously passed all medical school pre-clinical courses with a B grade or higher
- No prior history of academic probation while attending OSU-COM
- Ability to develop and manage a classroom environment (including Zoom and in-person classrooms)
- Display a positive and professional attitude
- Demonstrate an ability to work well within a group and to motivate students at various levels of academic performance
- Ability to hold regularly scheduled sessions

Preferred:
- Previous tutoring or SI experience helpful

Oklahoma State University-Center for Health Sciences was founded in 1972 and is home to the College of Osteopathic Medicine, as well as graduate programs in forensics, biomedicine, healthcare and athletic training.   Our core business is education; and it takes more than 500 faculty and staff members to run our institution.  Our mission is to educate and train osteopathic physicians, research scientists and other healthcare professionals with an emphasis on serving rural and underserved Oklahomans.  We offer more than 10 different specialty clinics to care for patients in the area.
