Annual training is required by the Department of Education for all personnel who have been designated as a Campus Security Authority.

Chief Objective of Position:

In consultation with the Director of Assessment and the Office of the Provost, the Assistant Director assists in the direction of an ongoing university-wide evaluation process that identifies and assesses expected outcomes across academic, administrative, and student support units in line with the institutional mission and gathers evidence detailing the resulting improvements in institutional quality.

Work Tasks:

In consultation with the Director and Provost’s Office:

1.Serves as lead on the assessment of academic programs by supporting faculty in designing methodologically sound assessment programs. This includes assisting with the development of student learning outcomes, evaluation methods, measurement tools, data analysis, reporting, and meeting deadlines set by the institutional assessment policy.
2.Seeks to improves and/or maintain institutional effectiveness in administrative and student support service units and other areas as needed. Assists with the support of administrative and student support service unit personnel in designing methodologically sound assessment programs. This includes assisting with the development of key performance indicators, evaluation methods, measurement tools, data analysis, reporting, and meeting deadlines set by the institutional assessment policy.
3.Develops and delivers assessment training sessions, workshops and seminars for faculty and staff.
4.Maintains a comprehensive assessment research program.
5.Using sound principles of measurement theory, designs, develops, collects and statistically analyzes CNU data collected through standardized tests, national survey instruments or other measurement tools.
6.Coordinates the implementation of national surveys, such as CLA+ and NSSE.
7.Assists with the dissemination of assessment findings to internal and external stakeholders, including accrediting bodies.
8.Develops a customer service approach to more effectively promote the “students first” initiative ensuring that all constituents are served in a fast, friendly, efficient and effective manner. Develops and maintains very positive and professional customer service and/or relations within the office/department and with all constituencies to include students, faculty, staff, guests, and employees. Demonstrates a positive and professional attitude and treats everyone with dignity and respect. Fully supports CNU Traditions and the “Students First” value at CNU and routinely goes the extra mile in providing service.
9.Safety issues are reviewed and communicated and goals are set to ensure a safe and healthy workplace and a reduction in work related absences. Any violation of safety rules are addressed promptly.
10. This position is designated as a “responsible employee” who has the authority to redress sexual violence, who has the duty to report incidents of sexual violence or other student misconduct, or who a student could reasonably believe has this authority or duty.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities (KSA's) required:

Knowledge of outcomes based assessment. Knowledge of trends and integration of learning and student assessment. Knowledge of quantitative research methodology including multivariate analysis and linear regression. Ability to design methodologically sound research. Ability to use statistical software to analyze data. Ability to construct tests and surveys. Ability to compile, analyze, and interpret large amounts of data. Ability to work successfully with various constituencies. Ability to communicate findings effectively to diverse audiences orally and in writing. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Ability to adhere to project deadlines. Ability to learn new software quickly. Ability to utilize relevant software in the process of maintaining records and preparing reports. Ability to work with detailed information with assiduous attention to accuracy. Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with colleagues. Ability to work occasional nights and weekends. Ability to reference theoretical basis/literature. Strong organizational skills. Excellent computer skills. Excellent communication skills.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities (KSA's) preferred:

Knowledge of SACSCOC or similar regional accreditation standards. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office, SPSS, and database and spreadsheet management. Knowledge of assessment management system platforms. Knowledge of the assessment of undergraduate research and/or experiential learning.

Required Education:

Master’s degree, at the time of start in position, from a program in which the design and conduct of statistical research was a central focus.

Preferred Education:

Graduate coursework in higher education assessment, evaluation research, measurement, and/or testing. Doctorate in a social science strongly preferred.

Experience Required:

Experience in quantitative research design, survey construction, and statistical data analysis. Experience using statistical software. Experience in report writing.

Experience Preferred:

Experience in assessment within a higher education setting. Experience in teaching and research within a higher education setting. Experience with SACSCOC or similar regional accreditation standards.
