Position Summary:

This position will lead the Health Science Campus Zone Shop that will consist of 5 – 10 semi-skilled and skilled trade employees including HVAC mechanics, plumbers, electricians, skilled trades workers and maintenance workers. The shop workload is primarily preventive maintenance and first responder to general building maintenance. The zone shop is involved with virtually all tasks that are performed within the buildings located in the zone.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies:

*Knowledge of planning and scheduling techniques.
*knowledge of computer-based work order management system.
*Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel and other computer applications.
*Knowledge of ordering job materials and accounting for job labor and material costs.
*Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities.
*Ability to supervise and train employees to include organizing, prioritizing and scheduling multiple work assignments and projects.
*Ability to foster a cooperative work environment that includes a multi-ethnic, multi-cultural environment with students, faculty and staff.
*Ability to read, understand, follow and enforce procedures.
*Ability to make administrative/procedural decisions and judgements.
*Ability to gather data, compile information, prepare reports and to coordinate and/or supervise independent contractors.
*Ability to perform inspections and make necessary adjustments to conform to job specifications.
*Experience in the maintenance of large buildings.
