About Us The School of Economics has 21 faculty members and instructs students in undergraduate, masters and Ph.D. programs. The School has approximately 275 majors across both its undergraduate and graduate programs, and approximately 80 undergraduate students minoring in economics. Job Summary Act as the primary administrative support for a school Chair providing office related services including correspondence and report preparation, maintaining files, meeting arrangements and related functions. May be responsible for setting employee goals, assessing employee performance and providing feedback, and making pay recommendations. This position will interact on a consistent basis with: Chair and Associate Chairs, Dean, School faculty members and staff, students and visitors.

This position may supervise: assigned office staff

Responsibilities
    Manage calendar, coordinate meetings, make travel arrangements and plan eventsPrepare correspondence and reports; may assist in collecting statistical data, conduct analyses, report preparation and presentationsMaintain office filing systemProvide administrative support to Associate Chair(s), as directedAssist in coordination of administrative tasks of faculty searchesMake travel arrangements and process travel-related reimbursementsAssist with logistics of conference planning, seminars, special school events and development activitiesProcess HR paperwork for research faculty new hires and department affiliates; immigration paperworkMay coordinate recurring administrative processes in support of the chair which may include administrative aspects of re-appointments, promotions and tenure, etc.Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications Educational Requirements
Technical Diploma, Associate's Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience

Required Experience
Four to six years of job related experience

Proposed Salary The proposed salary for this position is: $50,000

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities SKILLS
This job requires working knowledge of the administrative processes and practices employed in a higher education academic office. Within this environment skills in event planning, organization, communications and customer service are required as is the use of office and specialized computer applications.

Other Information Job Purpose:

The position will provide administrative and operational support to the Chair of the School of Economics. This includes coordinating the School Chair’s calendar, assisting the Chair in maintaining School records and data including confidential information, planning and executing events and hosting of visitors in collaboration with other School staff, interacting with guests and visitors as well as institution administrative personnel, faculty members, and staff. This position will provide administrative support for all matters relating to faculty Reappointment, Promotion and Tenure (RPT) as well as assist the chair with coordinating faculty committee assignments and peer-review teaching evaluations. This position serves as the primary contact with the campus and external community on behalf of the Chair of the School of Economics. The position will be expected to maintain a high level of confidentiality, administrative knowledge, and the ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively.

Chair Support

    Manage the School of Economics Chair’s calendarCollect and maintain data and records for the School as assigned by the ChairPrepare reports, presentations, or correspondence on behalf of the School Chair as requestedMaintain current Faculty, Staff, and Graduate Student HandbooksAttend all faculty meetings and maintain meeting minutes and recordsCoordinate travel arrangements and submit Travel Authorization & Reimbursement Requests on behalf of the School Chair.Assist Chair in his/her outreach activities, events, and other duties as assigned
Faculty Affairs

    Collect and maintain faculty annual reports and process annual performance evaluationsAssist the Chair, RPT Committee Chair, and faculty in matters related to promotion, tenure, critical reviews, and post-tenure reviews, including the Institute’s promotion and tenure software PROMOTECollect and maintain records of peer-review teaching evaluationsMaintain records of faculty service activitiesAssist the School Chair with other faculty affairs matters as assigned
Alumni Development and Outreach Support

    Serve as the administrative contact for the Board of Advisors to the School of Economics (BASE) and maintain BASE recordsAssist the School Chair in planning and executing BASE meetings, Alumni Receptions, and alumni other activitiesMaintain alumni database at direction of the Chair
