Visiting Assistant Professor of Spanish

Department Description:

Detailed Description:
The Department of Languages, Cultures and Literatures at the University of San Diego seeks a Visiting Assistant Professor of Spanish for a one-year position beginning September 1, 2021. The position may be renewable for a second year depending on departmental need. The chosen candidate will teach lower-division Spanish language and one or two upper-division Spanish classes (3/4 teaching load). They will also perform service duties for the Spanish program equivalent to three units of teaching over the course of the academic year.

Review of candidates will begin on June 15, 2021 and will continue until the position is filled. Finalists will be invited to interview with the committee via Zoom.


Job Requirements:
Priority will be given to generalist candidates with PhD in hand, although ABD will be considered. Demonstrated experience in teaching Spanish language at both lower-division and upper-division levels is required. We especially value pedagogical strategies that are attentive to issues of diversity, inclusion, and social justice.
