Under the supervision of the Campus Police Officer, a Public Safety Cadet is responsible for providing protection and services for Waubonsee students, faculty, staff, guests, property, and interests. This is to be accomplished through preventive patrol, emergency response, and other services in accordance with departmental mission and objectives.

Support and assist uniformed officers in enforcement of Waubonsee regulations and applicable State of Illinois statutes as authorized by law.

Maintain good rapport with students, staff, and visitors.

Support and assist uniformed officers by responding to crimes and incidents occurring within our jurisdiction and complete the appropriate reports.

Support and assist uniformed officers by collecting, preserving, and safeguarding evidence.

Patrol regularly to prevent crime, provide service and assistance as requested, and take appropriate action as required.

Provide traffic controls functions.

Provide emergency first aid services.

Maintain order at activities held on campus.

Attend and participate in all department meetings and trainings as assigned.

Perform duties as assigned by a Campus Police Officer and/or appropriate administrator.

Minimum Qualifications

Must be a student pursuing a career in Criminal Justice at Waubonsee Community College.

Must be enrolled in at least 9 credit hours with at least a 2.5 GPA.

Must be eighteen years or older.
