Deane School of Law at Hofstra University invites applications for the position of Director of Career Services and Diversity Initiatives. The Director is expected to advise self-identifying diverse students on matters relating to internships, fellowships and their careers. This position, which is part of the Law School’s Office of Career Services, reports to the Senior Associate Dean of Career Services.

The primary responsibility for this role will be to develop opportunities and educate diverse students about employment opportunities. The Director will be expected to actively participate in the community organizations that promote diversity. More specific responsibilities include identifying and managing Hofstra Law’s participation in diversity initiatives, reviewing resumes and cover letters of diverse students; interview preparation; preparation of resource materials and programs; working closely with related student organizations; and developing and maintaining close working relationships with employers generally.

This is an on-site position; work for this role will be performed on campus.
The usual schedule for this position is Monday – Friday, 9:00am – 5:00pm. This position is currently working 4 days on alternating weeks.

Conditions permitting, the position will require attendance at events on Long Island and in New York City. Evening hours are occasionally required.
Qualifications:A law degree is required. Excellent organizational, written and oral communication and interpersonal skills and an ability to work independently and as a member of a larger student services team are required. Prior experience practicing law or legal career coaching experience are strongly preferred. Advanced computing skills, including use of social media, is strongly preferred. Presentation skills necessary.
