The Senior Associate Director serves as a partner to the Director of Communications, assisting Alumni Relations in all aspects of online engagement initiatives, and working in collaboration with partners throughout Wharton and DAR. In this role, the Senior Associate Director will help build strong tech transitions for Salesforce, as well as lead the Wharton clubs website program through Nation builder, which spans 40+ clubs around the world. This work requires sophisticated volunteer management, long-term project planning and execution, and complex negotiations with vendors, the privacy office, and Office of General Counsel. Partnering with the global clubs team is an essential part of the role to provide comprehensive consulting to clubs to ensure they are making best use of this technology, alumni data, and representing the Wharton brand well.
The Senior Associate Director will also manage the alumni communications help desk, and ensure user experience on all alumni websites, platforms, and apps is of the highest-quality. This position manages an Associate Director and a work-study student, and is responsible for building influence and alliances across the School and DAR to ensure the alumni experience is consistent and Wharton-caliber. This position also partners closely across the Communications team to ensure we are effective in our online communications, with responsibility for advising and measuring marketing efforts for alumni relations websites, online events, and programs.Job Description
The incumbent will work closely with our data analytics team to ensure that we are stewards of collecting and improving quality of alumni data. The Senior Associate Director will also direct and execute projects relating to technology and alumni experience, and working closely with Alumni Relations to provide future-thinking direction and scalability to their projects.
A Bachelor's Degree and 5 years to 7 years of experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. 3 to 5 years experience in alumni relations, communications, or development with extensive project management experience is highly desired. Candidate must demonstrate a high level of comfort with technology and willingness to learn the functionality of new platforms.
Ability to understand a senior business community, and communicate and market instructions, resources, and other materials to those constituents is critical to this role. Advanced presentation, project management, and communication skills are highly desired, as well as experience in serving volunteer organizations and understanding of volunteer perspective. Must be detail oriented, pragmatic, and able to handle multiple projects simultaneously. Knowledge of international cultures and heightened diplomacy skills; confidence and maturity to work with senior business alumni and faculty. Exceptional collaboration, leadership, and conflict resolution skills required. Must be willing to work occasional evenings and weekends and travel both domestically and internationally. A valid driver's license and passport are preferred.
