Purdue University’s Honors College seeks a candidate with interest and expertise in higher education administration, high-impact pedagogy, and undergraduate research for an academic year (one-year) appointment as Director and Visiting Clinical Assistant Professor of the “R1: Research Accelerator” learning community. As Director of R1: Research Accelerator, the successful candidate will administer an innovative residential learning community for highly motivated first-year students. R1 aims to introduce students who may not have had research experiences in high school to their new research university context and to afford them meaningful research experiences in their first year. The director will lead a team of faculty who teach the two required courses of the learning community, will act as liaison with university residences, and will both plan and execute extra-and co-curricular programs related to the program’s goals. As Visiting Clinical Assistant Professor, the successful candidate will teach three credits in the R1 program each semester and will develop a course-based research experience for the spring semester based on the candidate’s areas of interest and expertise.

Qualifications: The candidate must have Ph.D. in the social sciences, humanities, or STEM fields. This position requires strong administrative skills and oral and written communication. Salary will be commensurate with training and experience.

The College: The Honors College is Purdue’s interdisciplinary college that serves highly motivated undergraduate students in an academic-residential environment, grounded in four pillars: interdisciplinary academics, research and creative endeavors, global and community engagement, and leadership. The college has 2,500 undergraduate students, reflecting the range of disciplinary fields across the university.
