Essential Functions 

 

The primary responsibility of the faculty member is teaching sport and/or Esport business courses in the College’s undergraduate and graduate programs. The successful candidate will be an innovative and experienced educator. Drexel University operates on a quarterly academic calendar, and the typical teaching load is three courses per quarter. In addition, the faculty member is expected to serve the Department, College, and University by participating on committees and engaging with students. Located in Philadelphia's University City area, the LeBow College of Business is AACSB-accredited at the graduate and undergraduate levels and offers doctorate, MBA, and undergraduate degrees. The Department of Sport Business offers BSBA majors in Sport Business and Esport Business and an M.S. in Sport Business. Required Qualifications 

Applicants must hold an MS, MBA, or other graduate degree (Ph.D. desirable) in sport management, business, or a closely related discipline and have experience teaching sport business and sport management courses. Teaching experience in two or more of the following areas is necessary: sport marketing, market research in sport, sport promotions and sales, collegiate sport organization and administration, sport media, international sport, esports, or sport analytics, including expertise in emerging technologies as it applies to sport. As we expand the depth and scope of our offerings, we also value candidates with expertise in diversity equity and inclusion (DEI) and corporate social responsibility (CSR) in sport. Applicants from all disciplines related to administration and management of sport organizations will be considered.

 

Drexel is a co-op University and placing students in one to three, six- month full time work experience co-ops is critical to our mission. Faculty work to help place sport business students in a wide variety of co-op positions ranging from local to international. Work experience in the sport industry is highly desirable. The position requires excellent communication skills and an ability to work effectively with students, faculty, and staff from diverse backgrounds. The successful candidate must meet eligibility requirements to work in the U.S. at the time the appointment is scheduled to begin and continue working legally for the proposed term of employment.

Preferred Qualifications 

Ph.D. Sport Industry work experience desirable.
