The department of Mining and Explosives Engineering is seeking a full time, benefit eligible employee for the position of experimental mine supervisor.

The experimental mine supervisor's duties will include but not be limited to the following:

  • Administration of experimental mine activities including research, instruction, tours, etc.
  • Provide support for the department's teaching and research responsibilities at the experimental mine by providing MSHA approved mine safety training for students, staff, and faculty.
  • Supervise all Experimental mine employees.
  • Enforce mine safety compliance for the site and all persons at the Experimental Mine in accordance with Department, University, MSHA, and ATF guidelines.
  • Supervise, instruct, and assist students and researchers in the use of machinery, mine rescue equipment, safety equipment, and explosives.
  • Maintain all mine site equipment and work with faculty to obtain supplies/equipment to aid in instruction and research.
  • Work with Department Chair or designee for future mine development
  • Transport explosives on public roads as needed.
  • Ability to be the lead person on call for experimental mine emergencies and participate in field trips and student events with potential for domestic and international travel.

All applicants should possess conceptual knowledge of theories, practices and procedures within the research function and possess the ability to apply general research knowledge developed through education and experience.

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience and at least 2 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary

Preferred Qualifications
  • Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with Hazardous Materials (Hazmat) Endorsement or ability to obtain this licensing within 6 months of employment, must be able to pass MO Highway Patrol Background check or TSA check directly after employment.
  • Previous Research Experience
  • Licensed Blaster in Missouri
  • MSHA approved Trainer
