We are committed to continuous education, sustaining cultural humility, and action related to DEI topics including systematic review of policies and procedures to ensure they are in alignment with the DOPsych DEI mission and vision.Nature of WorkThe geriatric psychiatrist will provide direct patient care in the UCHealth geriatric psychiatry specialty clinic. The psychiatrist is responsible for collaborating with other members of the geriatric psychiatry team, the members of the general adult psychiatry team, the neuromodulation team, with geriatric medicine, and other departments and clinic throughout the system. The psychiatrist will also oversee residents and medical students rotating through the clinic and be involved with didactics. The geriatric psychiatrist will be a part of the regular Department of Psychiatry call schedule. This position involves evaluating and treating psychiatric conditions in older adults, including but not limited to anxiety, depression, and neurocognitive disorders. Please note, this is an open rank position and could be categorized as Instructor, Senior Instructor, Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Professor based on experience and qualifications as indicated below. Professional FieldPsychiatryExamples of Work PerformedThe duties and responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:- Completing diagnostic assessments and initiating evidence-based treatments.
- Understanding contributing medical conditions and providing input on their treatment when appropriate.
- Liaising with primary care providers and other medical/surgical specialists.
- Providing psychoeducation and collaborating with families and caregivers who are also involved in the patient’s care.
- Upon stabilization, returning their care to their primary care providers.
- Actively Contributes to Academic Advancement of his/her discipline.
- Keeps abreast of the latest developments in field, both academically and through applied skills.
