Adjunct faculty plans classes and implements and evaluates teaching/learning objectives and student learning outcomes. Adjunct faculty undertake the divisional and professional responsibilities of a part-time faculty member, including office hours. The successful applicant will be expected to provide instruction in a full range of undergraduate Political Science courses within UNT Dallas’s Political Science major, including the core sequence of PSCI 1040 and 1050. (These courses are designated Government 2301 and Government 2302 in the common course numbering system.)
The core sequence at UNT Dallas is taught in a comparative alignment, with PSCI 1040 comparing and contrasting the contexts, rationales, and institutional arrangements of Texas and United States constitutions and governments. PSCI 1050, the second course in the core sequence, examines electoral and policy processes in similar comparative form. Successful candidates will be required to teach in the comparative alignment used by UNT Dallas. Preparation assistance in the form of comparative course outlines and class presentations will be made available to successful candidates.Position Summary:
Adjunct faculty members will be required to use texts and meet certain content parameters set by the Department of History and Political Science. Adjunct instructors also will be required to include in their courses certain student assessment measures determined by the department, and to compile data on those assessment criteria. •A Master’s degree in Political Science with at least 18 graduate hours in Political SciencePreferred Qualifications:
•A Master’s degree in a related field such as Public Administration is acceptable if there is evidence of graduate hours in courses covering U.S. and Texas constitutions and government
•Experience teaching both United States and Texas government.
•Ph.D. in Political Science, with significant teaching experience in higher education.Work Schedule:
•Experience in teaching core Government and Political Science courses and advanced political science courses.
•Excellent communication skills in multicultural settings.
