Job Description This is an entry level reserach position in community and clinical research in the Department of Biomedical and Health Informatics at the UMKC School of Medicine. There are two openings for either a Research Assistant or Senior Research Assistant and will be determined based on education. This position will be responsible for collecting information from participants according to the research study protocols. He or she may conduct interviews, epidemiological, social or behavioral assessments, and collect data and/or biological samples from research participants in studies.

Responsibilities included but are not limited to:

    May recruit, screen and schedule potential study participantsUtilizes approved informed consent and HIPAA proceduresAdministers involved, systematic tests and questionnaires including the assessment of participant eligibility, level of function, and/or response to intervention(s) according to research study protocolsHelps maintain study procedure documentationPrepares study related materialsMay assist with data entry, cleaning and guided analysisMonitors study participants as required by study protocolMaintains supply inventoryMay utilize study-related devices and equipment as part of assessment proceduresMaintains study records and edits for completeness and accuracyAttends regular team meetingsTroubleshoots field issues when necessary, uses discretion to resolve issues when unplanned events ariseAdditional duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications

Research Assistant: Bachelor's degree

Senior Research Assistant: Master's degree

Preferred Qualifications
    Prior work with research study protocols preferredDetail oriented with high attention to accuracyDemonstrates basic computer skillsStrong written and verbal communicationsAbility to develop rapport with a diverse pool of research participantsAbility to navigate sensitive topics and maintain confidentiality of participantsAbility to collaborate within multi-disciplinary team settingsMay require travel for specialized training depending on study protocolsAvailability to work evenings and weekends if called for under the study protocolsMay require personal transportation to field location
