Position Summary:
Job Summary
Reporting to the Director of Residence Life, the community standards specialist will provide overall vision, leadership, and administrative direction for community standards and student conduct. The specialist is a member of the residence life team and works collaboratively on important initiatives including student staff selection and training; supports students living on campus; and serves in the professional staff on-call rotation. This position includes rotating on-call responsibilities and is a full-time, 12-month, live-in position.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
The specialist should demonstrate collaborative and transparent leadership style; strong interpersonal skills; excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to collaborate with and advise students, organizations, faculty and staff from all backgrounds and identities; ability to collect and use data to assess initiative effectiveness; outstanding organizational, problem-solving, and program development skills; in-depth, contemporary knowledge of student conduct and community standards and best practices caring for students of concern.
Education
Master’s degree in higher education administration, law, or related field required.
Experience
Three years of experience in higher education, advising and supporting college students required.
Additional Requirements
This position requires occasional night and weekend hours.
Physical Demand
Position requires the ability to stand or sit for extended periods of time. Position requires the ability to move about the campus. Position requires the ability to talk and to hear instruction. Position requires occasional manual dexterity and the ability to use fingers, hands, and arms to feel, handle, and reach. Position requires occasional stooping, crouching and bending. Position requires the ability to occasionally lift up to 10 pounds. Working conditions are mostly indoor.

In the classroom, on the campus and beyond
We use experiential learning to engage students in a multicultural education that prepares them for life in a diverse and interconnected world. Our new Central Curriculum, taught by a diverse faculty with different viewpoints and experiences, challenges students in their ways of perceiving and knowing the world. The unique Global Opportunities (GO) requirement prompts students to experience ways of knowing and being that are unfamiliar, and to reflect on those experiences.
