Minimum Qualifications:

Requires at least a baccalaureate degree in the field. Please contact your Human Resources office for an evaluation of education/experience in lieu of the required minimum qualifications.

Preferred Qualifications:

Masters Degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs, Counselor Education, Social Work, other related field. Prior case management experience in a higher education setting. Knowledge of Advocate Database System.

Position Summary:

The Assistant Director of Student Care and Outreach position serves as the primary case manager for the university’s Behavioral Assessment and Response Council (BARC), a group of administrators that assesses and determines the appropriate response to students who exhibit threatening behavior to self and/or others. The Assistant Director also supports the Assistant Dean of Students with case management for the Campus wide Case Management Team (CCMT), an interdisciplinary group that harnesses campus resources to provide holistic support to students. The Assistant Director reports to the Assistant Dean of Students.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; Excellent organizational skills; Experience in management of electronic database; Proven experience in developing effective working relationships with university students, faculty, staff, administrators and the community; Working successfully individually and as a member of a team; Familiarity with case management standards and processes.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Case Management for BARC
•Serve as primary case manager for BARC.
•Manage and draft communication related to BARC cases with students, members of BARC, students’ family, and faculty members.
•Collaborate with departments within UGA Student Affairs (e.g. University Housing, Disability Resource Center, Counseling and Psychiatric Services, Student Conduct) to provide comprehensive support services to students.
•Follow-up with students to ensure compliance with BARC conditions.
•Serve as an ex-officio member of BARC. Attend all scheduled BARC meetings and maintain log of cases to be reviewed during BARC meetings.
•Coordinate services with external community agencies and care providers as appropriate.
•Research and disseminate information regarding educational resources and conferences for BARC members.
•Stay abreast of federal regulations relevant to BARC.
•Review and interpret University policies and make recommendations when procedural changes are needed.
•Generate ad hoc reports for BARC when requested.

Case Management for Campus-wide Case Management Team
a.Support the Assistant Dean of Students in designing interventions for students discussed in the Campus-wide Case Management Team.
b.Serve as a member of CCMT. Attend all scheduled CCMT meetings, serving as the Chair when the Assistant Dean is unable to be present.
c.Assist in the development and dissemination of weekly agendas for the campus-wide case management team.
d.Follow-up with students as needed and as determined by the case management team.
e.Generate ad hoc reports for CCMT when requested.

Case Management for Student Care & Outreach
Serve as point of contact for inquiries to SCO; address and respond to referrals made to the SCO, including direct outreach to students, families, faculty, and staff.
•Participate in outreach presentations on behalf of SCO.
•Facilitate hardship withdrawal process on behalf of students of concern.
•Assist with management and oversight of SCO records within Advocate Symplicity electronic database. Ensure that records and data are maintained in accordance with University policies and federal and state regulations.
