Job Details
•Partners with the Manager, Public Safety Office Operations, on the supervision of the Resident Safety Program which encompasses approximately 200 students.
•Supervises and trains Resident Safety student employees including the Student Coordinators, Shift Coordinators and Resident Safety Representatives (RSRs) to ensure that proper policy and procedures are followed at all times.
•Oversees the coordination and confirmation of coverage in all security booths on a 24-hour basis and certifies coverage in every building at all times.
•Prints, organizes, and distributes the building rosters every two weeks.
•Approves and reviews Resident Safety Program payroll worked on a daily basis.
•Reviews and reconciles Resident Safety Program budget.
•Coordinates and conducts interviews for the initial hiring and advancement in the Resident Safety Program.
•Prepares and processes new hire paperwork for student employees while adhering to guidelines as outlined by the Office of Student Employment.
•Reports any maintenance concerns to the appropriate departments; makes temporary arrangements to ensure compliance with departmental regulations.
•Investigates reports of lost ID cards and supervises the return of all Hofstra and non-Hofstra IDs on a weekly basis.
•Monitors the inspections of Residence Hall security booths for cleanliness, supplies, equipment, and maintenance. Orders supplies and equipment as needed.
•Creates, revises, and maintains all Resident Safety literature
•Coordinates with the Manager, Public Safety Office Operations, to develop, propose, and implement new policies, procedures, and equipment to aid in the overall efficiency and success of the Resident Safety Program.
•Plans, organizes, and coordinates all RSR training sessions and meetings.
•Insures RSR compliance with departmental regulations.
This is an onsite position; work for this role is performed on campus.
Qualifications:•Bachelor’s degree required.
•Minimum 3-5 years’ prior supervisory experience.
•Demonstrated effective interpersonal, organizational and time management skills.
Detail oriented and able to exercise good judgment and discretion, and capable of handling sensitive
and confidential issues in a professional manner.
•Ability to work flexible shifts, which may include evenings and weekends as this is a 24/7 operation. Must be able to be on-call and have the ability to get to campus as needed.
•Proficiency in MSWord, PowerPoint and Outlook required.
