Responsibilities:

Teach Introduction to Theater, Public Speaking, Interpersonal Communication and Intro to Speech; provide quality and innovative instruction (normal load is 15 hours per semester plus the possibility of one summer teaching), including day and evening, and perhaps Saturday; teach drama and/or speech classes online; effectively mentor and advise students; supply professional leadership in curriculum; assist with advising and registration; serve on departmental and college committees; continue professional development; and perform other duties as assigned.

This is a non-tenured full time faculty position.

Qualifications:

Master’s degree in Speech or Communication required or a master’s degree with at least eighteen graduate hours in the speech or communication field. Community college experience preferred. Online teaching experience a plus. Candidate must demonstrate sensitivity to the needs of students from diverse backgrounds. Must comply with established College standards and policies.

This position is security-sensitive and thereby subject to the provisions of the Texas Education Code §51.215.

Two-year academic programs are offered in business, communication, computer science, criminal justice, education, liberal arts, theater, natural science and sociology. Thirty technical programs are available, leading to associate of applied science degrees, certificates of completion and institutional awards. Some of these degrees include process operating and industrial technology, instrumentation, and medical office. Customized training programs to meet the needs of local business and industry and offered through the Continuing and Workforce Education Department.
