Materials Science & Engineering Post-Doctoral Position in Alloy Interaction Potential Development

Regular Full-time, Pay Grade 00

The University of Tennessee is pleased to announce an immediate opening for a postdoctoral associate position focused on development of interaction potentials for alloy design. This position, supervised by Prof. David Keffer and Prof. Orlando Rios, resides in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at University of Tennessee Knoxville. The program includes multiple national laboratories and industrial partners within aerospace, defense, nuclear and transportation. The research group at UT will lead the classical molecular dynamics simulation of materials produced by the UT laboratories, national laboratories and industry partners. The position will allow the postdoctoral scientist to develop expertise and broaden experience by through close collaboration with a diverse set of scientists at UTK, Ames, ORNL, LLNL, INL, and industry.



Qualifications
REQUIREMENTS:
The applicant must have completed the requirements for a PhD in Materials Science and Engineering. The ideal candidate will have experience all the following: density functional theory calculations, classical molecular dynamics simulation, machine learning, and computational interpretation of x-ray and neutron scattering data. Candidates must be fluent in C++ and Python. Excellent written and oral communication skills, with a demonstrated track record in publishing, are required.
