Job Summary

Spivey Hall, Clayton State University’s acoustically superb recital hall, cultivates a community of artists and audiences who share a passion for the discovery and appreciation of outstanding music through concerts and learning experiences. Spivey Hall fulfills its mission by presenting performances by outstanding international classical, jazz and world-music artists in its acoustically superb, 390-seat recital hall, and through music education programs developed in collaboration with educators, all of which address the needs of the diverse communities it serves.

The Education Assistant supports the Education Manager in planning, implementing, and promoting Spivey Hall’s educational programs, which serve 10,000 people from 20 counties each year. The Education Assistant registers and provides customer service to groups and individuals wishing to attend Young People’s Concerts; maintains the education department’s many databases; compiles data and financial reports, assists in the execution of choral and chamber orchestra workshops, summer music camp, master classes, teacher workshops, and other projects; and attends meetings of the Spivey Hall Education Committee and SHCCP Staff Meetings.

Responsibilities

Young Peoples Concerts (YPCs): Manage registration process by providing ongoing customer service (phone, email, in-person), fulfilling registrants’ orders according to seating availability utilizing CRM (customer relation management) software, preparing and emailing confirmation packets, and issuing reminders. Assist with study guide creation. Actively promote YPCs to various pertinent groups. Create annual calendars representing 10+ school systems.Workshops/Event Execution: Assist with the registration process and participant communications, support event preparation logistics, attend events, and compile feedback. Actively promote Education events to various pertinent groups. Database Management: Maintain the systematization and details of multiple databases with consistent editing and updating including returned emails, address changes, and new lists.Data Reporting: Compile and distribute event feedback to/from artists/teachers /principals/superintendents/event partnersAttend Spivey Hall Education Committee and SHCCP Staff Meetings and record minutes.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or High School diploma and equivalent experience.Three years of experience in customer service, writing, maintaining databases, and event execution.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

Knowledgeable in educational trends, music education, promotions, and social media.Superb customer service skills, fluency with Microsoft Office programs; strong communication and organizational skills; excellent writing and grammar, with attention to detail.Ability to work with diverse constituencies of all ages from a wide range of socio-economic and ethnic backgrounds, including parents, teachers, CSU faculty/staff/students, public/private/home school students, and other adults. Ability to work effectively on multiple projects simultaneously; ability to work collaboratively but also make decisions independently.
