  • Position Description:

    The Curriculum and Clerkship Coordinator is responsible for coordinating, developing, implementing, as well as monitoring nurse practitioner, physician assistant students, and medical student clerkship & curriculum activities for the Department of Emergency Medicine in accordance with LCME policies and procedures. In addition, this position involves analysis, documentation, planning and coordination of activities related to current policies and practices of the institution’s clerkship programs. This position will also provide back-up office coverage for the academic and Chairman's office as well as the residency program with basic secretarial duties. 

    Qualifications:

    Education/experience/licensing:

    1. Associate degree in office administration or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
    2. Knowledge of accepted general office practices, policies and protocols of the Licensing Committee on Medical Education (LCME), and computer programs unique to medical education, i.e., MedEd, Banner, Blackboard and Web Report Library.
    3. Comprehensive knowledge of word processing concepts, spreadsheet programs and databases (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access) with the ability to learn new software programs as required.
    4. Ability to perceive and understand broad objectives. Organize time and material toward same.
    5. Ability to work independently to meet deadlines. Excellent organizational skills and multitasking.
    6. Must be able to plan, prioritize and organize multiple tasks and complete work assignments with minimal supervision or within the team environment that may involve frequent interruptions.
    7. Demonstrated proficiency in organizing and presenting material to a professional audience.
    8. Experience with medical terminology preferred.
    9. Medical transcription experience required
    10. Must be able to keyboard 50 WPM with accuracy and possess a good working knowledge of the rules of grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
    11. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, able to compose own correspondence as well as mange complex statistical data.
    12. Must possess excellent interpersonal to work with a wide variety of personnel.

    Knowledge:

    1. Must have knowledge of University policies, rules and regulations, as well as university programs/colleges.
    2. Must have basic working knowledge of accounting principles, applications and office procedures.
    3. Knowledge of online survey tools such as Survey Monkey helpful.
    4. Knowledge of Banner preferred.
