Salary/Grade:

Total salary of $4500; $1000 to be paid in May, $2500 to be paid in June, $1000 to be paid in July, and $500 to be paid in August.

Job Summary:

Student Worker Other - Salary positions are designated for positions that qualify for salaried pay but that fall outside the realm of the other specified pay grades for student employment. Prior communication with Student Employment is required before selecting the Student Worker Other - Salary positions.

Essential Duties:

The Summer Orientation Intern position is a way for a current graduate student to learn more about the functional area of
orientation, transition, and retention through an award-winning orientation operation. The Summer Orientation Intern will
report to the Assistant Director of Orientation and Transition Programs and work across many facets of the orientation
program, as well as aspects of University 101 and Welcome Weekend and First 50 Days. Specifically, the Summer
Orientation Intern will contribute to:
Assessment
 Coordinate ongoing assessment of student and family orientation sessions, review data, and analyze survey results
at conclusion of orientation sessions
 Produce reports and data analysis for OTP campus partners
Digital Communication
 Develop regular social media content and maintain OTP social media accounts
 Coordinate, develop, and implement the Hawk Herald e-newsletter for new students
Administration & Logistics
 Assign students to appropriate advising campaigns in Navigate
 Serve as a liaison to campus dining and be the lead OTP staff at dinner during each orientation program
 Lead the planning and preparation for orientation social events
 Serve as a resource to new students and families through in-person, phone, and email interactions
 Assist with logistics for family orientation sessions
Advising & Training
 Mentor Student Orientation Undergraduate Leaders (SOULs)
 Oversee SOULs who are assigned to work at each orientation student social
 Review SOUL weekly reports
 Plan fall training for University 101 Undergraduate Associates
Additional Opportunities
 Observe and assist with transfer student orientation programs
 Assist with May Training of SOULs prior to beginning of orientation programs
 Assist with Welcome Weekend & First 50 Days planning
 Other duties as necessary and/or upon request

Minimum Qualifications:

One academic year of assistantship work in student affairs
