GENERAL JOB SUMMARY:

The Senior Systems Reporting Analyst position is part of a software development team with responsibility to design, write SQL code, deliver, and support SQL-based reports, data, and dashboards used by the college to make informed decisions. The analyst works with various departments and tactic groups across the college to understand their data, present prototype demonstrations, and create solutions. The Senior Systems Reporting Analyst also has mentoring and training responsibilities for junior staff members. There are also maintenance and production support duties, and system documentation requirements. This position is responsible for supporting information needs for Kirkwood’s mission.

  • DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Team Lead & mentor to Junior Developers.
  • Ability to lead large and small projects (Large is over 400 hrs and more than 1 team member).
  • Communicate and work with Senior Leadership.
  • Work proficiently in a Microsoft SQL Server Database environment to:
  • Create and run SQL queries in a proficient manner.
  • Build stored procedures.
  • Create SQL reports in an SSRS development environment.
  • Create and update dashboards in Tableau and iDashboards.
  • Generate routine and ad hoc reports.
  • Present complex information in an understandable and visually compelling manner.
  • Perform complex statistical analyses for projects and reports.
  • Unit test reports and support UAT.
  • On analyst-led projects, business analysis and requirements elicitation.
  • Second level support for issues that may occur with user report access and creation.
  • In collaboration with others, develop and maintain databases and data systems necessary for projects and department functions.
  • Acquire and abstract primary or secondary data from existing internal or external data sources.
  • Import/Export data via SSMS.
  • Distribute data to outside parties following FERPA rules.
  • Adhere to data security and privacy policies.
  • Demo reports in small to medium sized audiences.
  • In collaboration with others, develop and implement data collection systems and other strategies that optimize statistical efficiency and data quality.
  • Assist on hiring committee for new team members.
  • Perform other related work duties as assigned.

    PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES WITH/WITHOUT REASONABLE ACCOMMODATION:

    Position involves working in an office setting. Occasional (10-33%) standing, pushing, pulling and grasping. Frequent (34-66%) reaching and viewing a computer and other types of close visual work. Constant (67-100%) sitting, walking, repetitive motion, talking and hearing.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in computer science, information systems or related technical field or 7 years of programming experience in a professional capacity.
  • 7+ years’ experience with writing SQL code and database utilization.
  • PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS, LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, OR REGISTRATIONS:

  • Knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server.
  • Understanding and experience using integrated databases in an educational environment.
  • Microsoft Visual Studio experience.
  • Experience creating dashboards utilizing Tableau, iDashboards or other dashboarding tool.
  • Rudimentary experience in web development in HTML, PHP and Web APIs.
  • Rudimentary knowledge of statistical analysis and data analytics.
  • Rudimentary knowledge of python.
  • Must have good understanding of the software development lifecycle process.
