Detailed Description:
Facilitates the success of all transfer students through the transfer student onboarding experience and Transfer Learning Community (TLC) program, USD's new student experience including the integrative learning core curriculum requirement, and social components. Creates and executes all aspects of the Transfer Student Fall and Spring Onboarding experiences. Implements all aspects of the TLC program; advises the Transfer Scholastic Assistant program including selection, training, supervision, and development of 20 student leaders, co-advises the Scholastic and Residential/Commuter Council. Periodically, this position may be asked to lead or contribute to either ad hoc or ongoing division/campus projects outside the scope of their day-to-day activities.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Transfer Student Onboarding
• Co-chair the Opening Weekend Committee which is responsible for all aspects of Fall and Spring opening weekend activities in support of onboarding our new transfer and first year students.
• Lead all aspects of the transfer student onboarding experience during the pre-arrival period, Transfer Fall Orientation (~350-400 students), and Spring Orientation (~150 students).
• Assess the effectiveness of the transfer onboarding experience.

Transfer Learning Community Implementation
• Lead and coordinate the implementation of key TLC programs and events to achieve the overall goals of the program including National Transfer Student Week programming, large-scale social programming, and the TLC Showcase. Partner with Residential Life and Community and Leadership Development staff to integrate planning and programming in support of the transfer student experience.
• Recruit, select, train, and supervise student leaders/employees (Scholastic Chair, Transfer Chair, and five Facilitating Scholastic Assistants) including designing and implementing annual and ongoing training and meeting regularly with student leaders/employees.
• Support TLC Faculty Integration Coordinator in designing and implementing programming in support of transfer students and the TLC theme.
• Co-facilitate weekly meetings designed to ensure smooth implementation of the learning communities program.

Student Leader Recruitment, Selection, and Development
• Recruit, select, train, and develop approximately 12 student leaders serving as Transfer Scholastic Assistants
• Work closely with the Student Onboarding team to coordinate the Transfer Scholastic Assistant role in onboarding new transfer students during the pre-arrival period, Transfer Orientation, and Spring orientation.
• Serve on the Student Leader Recruitment & Selection Committee and carry out the charge of coordinating and implementing the recruitment and selection of key campus student leaders - Commuter Assistants, OLE! Team, Resident Assistants, Transfer Scholastic Assistants, and Scholastic Assistants.
• Serve on Student Leader Preparation & Development Committee as a functional team member with responsibility for designing and implementing sessions to achieve common learning outcomes for key student leaders - Associated Student Government, Commuter Assistants, OLE! Team, Resident Assistants, Transfer Scholastic Assistants, and Scholastic Assistants. Design and implement role-specific training for Facilitating and Transfer Scholastic Assistants.
• Supervise and mentor the Transfer Chair and mentor/provide work direction to the two Scholastic Chairs, three prominent undergraduate student leaders who each work 10-15 hours/week in the Learning Communities Program.
• Advise the Facilitating Transfer Scholastic Assistant and oversee their work in liaising to the TLC Theme Team and TSA Team.

Administrative
• Manage all aspects of the transfer student registration process; steward students from the deposit date through the steps needed to be approved to meet with their academic advisor.
• Co-manage budgets in excess of $100k.
• Manage expense reports and reimbursements for LC faculty and manage purchases for student leader programming. Reconcile transfer-related budgets on a monthly basis.
• Manage all aspects of the onboarding website including regularly updating content.
• Represent the TLC program on several key committees and workgroups including the Opening Weekend Committee, New Student Team, and New Student Survey Group.
• Contribute to or lead additional division/campus projects outside of typical duties to help further accomplish student or organizational goals. Additional assignments may be seasonal, ad hoc or ongoing, depending on the project.

Minimum Qualifications:
• Master's degree in student affairs, counseling, or related field required. Relevant course work and/or three years of relevant professional experience may be substituted for the master's degree requirement.
• Bachelor's degree required
• Two years of experience in implementing large scale programming required.
• Two years of experience advising student leaders required.
• Two years of experience in general office work and budget management required.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Two years of experience working with faculty and students in Higher Education preferred.
• Experience working in Residential Life or Higher Education preferred.
• Experience advising college students preferred.

Performance Expectations - Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
• Highly organized and motivated.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Excellent use of Microsoft Excel and G-Suite, as well as the ability to learn and use Banner, Noetix, Salesforce, Cascade, Canva, and MySanDiego Portal.
• Articulate monthly budgets clearly and comprehensively for faculty and staff.
• Possess the ability to apply various organizational skills in order to prioritize workload effectively, satisfy deadlines under time pressure situations, and work on multiple concurrent tasks.
• Possess flexibility and versatility in order to contribute to evolving work situations.
• Cooperate as a team member with all offices performing duties essential to the achievement of program goals and learning outcomes.
• Establish and maintain strong working relationships with colleagues, staff, administrators, students, and the general public.
• Possess thorough knowledge of general office practices and procedures.
• Assume responsibility, deal effectively with problems, and exercise independent judgment when making decisions and dealing with diverse personalities and populations.
• Ability to develop and use empathetic listening skills, communicate with clarity and maintain an attitude that conveys respect, assistance, honesty and resourcefulness.
• Ability to provide constructive feedback to faculty, staff, and students during the event planning process to ensure events are student-centered.
• Willingness to support the Catholic mission and vision of the University.
• Demonstrated practice of centering diversity, equity, inclusion, and antiracism in one's work including an ongoing commitment to personal learning and development in this area.
• Demonstrated commitment to student learning and development in the co curriculum and experience assessing the impact of programs and related services.
