About the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering:
The department has academic programs at the BS, MS, and PhD levels in electrical and computer engineering. Currently the program has over 313 undergraduates, 93 master's students, and 52 PhD students, taught and mentored by 19 tenure/tenure track faculty. The ECE department is located in a new, well-equipped research building. Primary areas of research conducted by faculty and students include: (1) DSP & Communications, (2) Power & Energy (3) Information Assurance, (4) Computer Design & Networks, (5) Micro & Opto-electronics, and (6) Controls & Laser Communication. The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Binghamton University invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of assistant professor to begin spring 2022.
The department will consider exceptional candidates in all areas of computer engineering but is particularly interested in candidates whose primary research expertise is in low-power or high-performance deep learning hardware; security and hardware for artificial intelligence; secure hardware design; security and privacy in cyber-physical systems and the Internet of Things; devices or hardware with applications to health; network intelligence/adaptability; artificial intelligence on edge.
The successful applicant will be expected to develop an externally funded research program and have a commitment to excellence in teaching at the BS, MS, and PhD levels.
Qualifications include an earned PhD in computer engineering or closely related field, excellent communication skills, and a strong commitment to teaching and research. A demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusiveness is preferred.
