Responsibilities This position performs diversified clerical duties associated with health information management procedures to include providing full support for all typing requirements of the nursing home's medical staff, MDS, and HIMS department. This position completes monthly Utilization Review audits, assembles and processes medical records of patients within and discharged from the nursing home. This position completes administrative correspondence and assists with other departmental functions such as preparing and packing medical records for scanning, assisting with patient transportation, patient admissions, and delivery or pick up of pharmaceuticals and nursing floor stock. This position performs a variety of record keeping functions such as filing purged medical records and indexing. The responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Assembles, processes, analyzes, and indexes medical records of patients within and discharged from the nursing home.
  • Retrieves medical record documentation from the nursing unit. Sorts and files any purged medical records delivered from the nursing units.
  • Review and audit medical records for the Utilization Review Committee monthly meetings. Update diagnoses in the American HealthTech system as needed based on the review.
  • Assist with patient transportation to clinic appointments, pick-up and delivery of pharmacy items including weekly Unit Dose cart exchanges, pick-up and delivery of floor stock, delivery and pick-up of administrative correspondence as needed.
  • Transcribe routine correspondence and mailings of the Nursing Home Health Information Management Director, Nursing or MDS.
  • Perform all other related duties as assigned.
Shift/Salary Shift: Days/M-F Pay Grade: 8 Salary: $12.82/hr - $13.25/hr Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position Recruitment Period: 5/11/2021 - until filledConditions of Employment In conjunction with an offer of employment, selected candidate(s) will be required to successfully complete Augusta University's Criminal Background Check process.
