Job Summary:

The TRIO/College Success Program (CSP) is currently looking for a qualified Peer leader to work with program participants in an individual/group setting. The College Success Program is part of the federally funded TRIO Programs that work to help CSP participants develop as individuals, citizens, and leaders as they successfully obtain their educational goals. The mission of CSP is to retain Northern Wyoming Community College District program participants until they complete their degree, certificate, or transfer to a 4-year institute, and to foster an institutional climate supportive of student success. The program provides the upmost standard of services focusing on four different areas; Academic, Career, Financial, Personal/social, and multicultural student services/assistance. Program participants are students who are underrepresented in college or in need of supportive services.

Education/Qualifications:

•Good Conduct and Academic Standing with the college
•Sheridan College Student currently enrolled
•Cumulative GPA is 2.0 or greater

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

•Ability to connect with non-traditional/at-risk students in a positive and professional manner
•Great communication and time management skills
•Creativity and networking skills
•Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Microsoft Outlook
•Clear understanding of FERPA and student confidentiality
•Sensitivity to diverse backgrounds
•Preference is given to TRIO/CSP participants

Responsibility/Duty:

•Welcome students and community members to the TRIO/College Success Program center by providing excellent customer services.
•Answer calls as needed, relay messages, and assist students in scheduling appointments with staff
•Plan and facilitate program social and cultural events
•Ability to tutor students in successful college skill building (note taking/study skills/time mgmt./ etc.)
•Complete needed program documentation of services
•Attend all program events as requested by the program director
•Contact students that have requested tutoring, set up appointments, and hold regular office hours
•Support the TRIO student organization, create criteria, guidelines, annual activities, and position structure following organizations like Chi Alpha Epsilon or other non-traditional honor groups
