The Department of Media Studies at the University of Virginia invites applications for a one-year appointment, non-tenure track Academic General Faculty Assistant Professor. The appointment begins August 25, 2021. The department is particularly interested in candidates who can develop and teach courses in media studies with an emphasis on issues of race and ethnicity in global contexts. The core responsibilities of this position include teaching six courses per year, three each during the spring and fall terms.

This is a one-year, tenure-ineligible appointment with the possibility of renewal, contingent upon available funding, satisfactory performance, and need for the position.

A PhD or appropriate terminal degree is expected by the start date. Candidates must have a strong commitment to teaching. Teaching experience is required.
