General Summary

Lake-Sumter State College is seeking a leader in front-line learning for our Dean of Allied Health Position:

The Dean of Allied Health is responsible for the administrative oversight of the following Allied Health Programs:
* Health Services Management Associate Degree Program
* Department of Nursing Association Degree Program
* The Baccalaureate of Science in Nursing Program
* Any future Allied Health Division Programs

The Dean of Allied Health is responsible for the following Administrative Tasks:
* Enforcing policy & procedures
* Organizational Effectiveness & Reporting
* Budget development & management
* Coordinating Allied Health Activities
* Program & Personal Evaluation

This position works to resolve faculty and student issues related to assigned areas and will collaborate with personnel from across the college and community in support of the College mission.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

1. Work collaboratively with faculty to ensure academic quality while focusing on student retention and completion.
2. Develop and maintain clinical and articulation agreements.
3. Lead the develop of new programs, curricula, by working collaboratively with faculty, Program Managers, and community partners.
4. Develop an efficient class schedule that meets student needs.
5. Assure accreditation status in good standing for all programs within the College of Allied Health including those programs that require “certification to operate”.
6. Ensure that student learning outcomes assessment plans are being followed with a focus on continuous improvement.
7. Responsible for meaningful program and service review of assigned areas focusing on continuous improvement. Oversee teach-out of discontinued programs.
8. Develop an annual budget by working with leaders of assigned areas.
9. Supervise recruitment and evaluation of all personnel in assigned areas.
10. Develop new initiatives by working cooperatively with faculty and staff.
11. Develop, recommend and justify operating and capital outlay budgets. Monitor and oversee budgets within departmental areas of responsibility.
12. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education Required: Doctorate degree in Health Science field from an accredited institution.

Experience Required: Minimum of six (6) years of teaching and administrative experience in a college environment that includes experience supervising faculty. Experience with the Florida College System, SACSCOC policies and procedures, and outside accreditation agencies such as ACEN, NAACLS, CoARC, or similar.

Minimum Certifications: Must hold current certification / license as required by the state in which employed.

* Demonstrate skills necessary to look at situations and processes critically to make recommendations for improvement.
* Exceptional people skills with the ability to communicate effectively with people from a wide variety of educational and professional backgrounds.
* Demonstrated quantitative, organizational, and technical skills adequate to help design, monitor, and interpret assessment results. Familiarity with student learning outcomes assessment and how this process relates to program and institution accreditation.
