Duties Performed in the Usual Course of the Job:The Department of Family and Consumer Sciences at Sam Houston State University invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor in Food Science and Nutrition beginning Fall 2021. The Food Science and Nutrition program is an ACEND accredited Didactic Program in Dietetics (DPD) with an internship as part of the M.S. in Dietetics.
The appointment will include teaching four classes per semester. The ideal candidate would have experience teaching in large classroom settings and online teaching experience is desirable. The successful candidate will be expected to teach both undergraduate and graduate level courses in nutrition, foods, and dietetics including lower-level nutrition, advanced nutrition, nutritional pathways, and cultural food counseling.
The Department of Family and Consumer Sciences at SHSU seeks to recruit and retain a diverse faculty. Qualified applicants with experience in diverse settings and/or who demonstrate a commitment to serving diverse student populations utilizing a variety and innovative technologies in teaching, experience with online education are strongly encouraged to apply.
Educational Requirements for the Position:Earned Doctoral degree in Food Science, Nutrition, or closely related field.
Experience Required for the Position:Experience in dietetic practice and teaching at the college level is an asset.
Other Requirements for the Position:Applicants who are a Registered Dietitian (R.D.) accredited by the Commission of Dietetic Registration are preferred.
