Nature of Work:

The Department of Pathology, University of Colorado School of Medicine, Anschutz Medical Campus, is seeking a full time board-certified or board-eligible neuropathologist at the Assistant to Associate Professor level for an academically-oriented position based at the University of Colorado Hospital (a quaternary adult care facility). Responsibilities will include clinical service, teaching, and applied research (independent funding not required).  Clinical responsibilities include surgical neuropathology, medical autopsy neuropathology, frozen section neuropathology and eye pathology, in rotation with 1.3 FTE other neuropathologists. This case mix is comprised of approximately 1,500 surgical cases and 300 autopsy cases, and does not include neuromuscular biopsies.  The candidate is expected to lead medical autopsy neuropathology including the teaching of residents, as well as our eye pathology service. Teaching of medical students and fellows from other subspecialties including neurosurgery, neurology, neuroradiology, and pediatric pathology who rotate on a one-month basis will also be required and shared with other attending neuropathologists.  Persons with a broad interest in all aspects of neuropathology and enthusiasm for teaching are especially encouraged to apply, although those focused on brain tumors, eye pathology, medical autopsy neuropathology and/or neurodegenerative disorders are also desirable.

Salary and Benefits:

Assistant Professor: $130,000-225,000

Associate Professor: $212,000-290,000

Full Professor: $250,000-310,000

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Qualifications
Minimum Requirements: 

Assistant Professor: MD or MD/PhD and must be board certified in anatomic pathology. Experience in academic position preferred. Additional subspecialty areas with or without board certification preferred. Experience in both adult and pediatric neuropathology, nerve and muscle pathology, eye pathology, medical autopsy pathology preferred. Candidates who have independent research effort will be considered as long as they have transferable research funding from external sources.

Associate Professor: Same as above but with 5 years of faculty experience at academic medical center and independent research or peer reviewed publications in neuropathology commensurate with rank. Candidates who have independent research effort will be considered as long as they have transferable research funding from external sources and the department has available resources including space and start up at the time of recruitment.

Professor:   Same as above but with six years of appointment as Associate Professor at an Academic Medical Center/Department of Pathology in the US and/or  national/international training and accomplishments commensurate with appointment as Professor in the Department of Pathology. Must have board certification from American Board of Pathology in Neuropathology and be VISA eligible through O-1 or citizenship.

Persons with a broad interest in all aspects of neuropathology and enthusiasm for teaching are especially encouraged to apply, although those focused on brain tumors, eye pathology, medical autopsy neuropathology and/or neurodegenerative disorders
