Nature of Work:

The University of Colorado, College of Nursing, is seeking a full-time (1.00 FTE) Temporary Adjunct Instructor/COVID Coordinator for a non-benefitted position at Sheridan Health Services (SHS), a Federally Qualified Health Center located in southwest Denver, CO (zip code: 80236). This position will assist CU Pharmacy and CU Family Health Clinic in coordinating COVID vaccinations including all documentation required by the state.  This position will also assist in maintaining pharmacy operations at CU Pharmacy as needed.

Clinic Description:

Sheridan Health Services is a multi-site, nurse-managed federally qualified community health center, funded through the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) Bureau of Primary Healthcare; and is a collaborative effort between the College of Nursing and the Sheridan School District. There are now ~45 employees at two convenient locations to serve community health needs primarily for residents of Arapahoe, Denver and Jefferson counties.  A Youth Health Clinic is located in the Sheridan School District Administration building. The Family Health Clinic is located in southwest Denver on the Fort Logan campus and provides services to adults and children, 65% of whom identify at Latinx, and 42% of whom are best served in another language, with Spanish being the predominant second language.  Services offered include primary care across the lifespan; prenatal and postpartum, gynecology, dentistry, pharmacy, behavioral health, and outpatient substance abuse treatment.  Sheridan Health Services is a Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH), and as such we uphold a model of care that places the patient at the center, incorporating the values and beliefs of the patient in all decision-making. Examples of Work Performed:

  • Coordinates COVID-19 Vaccinations, scheduling and documenting in conjunction with CU Family Health Clinic Staff.
  • Provides quality pharmaceutical services focused on exceptional customer service;
  • Builds and maintains high quality business relations with co-workers, clinical affiliations, vendors, clients and other constituents;
  • Assists in managing Collaborative Drug Therapy Management (CDTM) programs run by pharmacy;
  • Gives professional and pedagogical services as a preceptor for pharmacy students, providing instruction and evaluation in the provision of clinical pharmacy services. 
Salary and Benefits:

The hiring salary for this position has been established at $54,000/year.

The above salary rate represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the rate at the time of posting.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in biology or a related field from accredited institution
  • Current University of Colorado employee or student in the College of Nursing’s Sheridan Health Services clinical practice department
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Conditions of Employment:

  • Must be willing and able to work until 8pm on designated extended hours shifts as needed
  • Must be willing and able to work weekends on an infrequent, rotating, as-needed basis
  • Must be willing and able to work in normal patient care environment with some exposure to biological hazards and infectious diseases.
  • Must be willing and able to exert up to 20lbs force occasionally, and/or up to 10lbs frequently, and walk or stand to a significant degree.
Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with scheduling vaccinations and/or giving vaccinations
  • Vaccination certification
Competencies:

  • Ability to take direction and utilize considerable degree of independent judgment and work priorities
  • Exemplary organizational skills and ability to prioritize
  • Unconditional ability to maintain patient confidentiality
  • Proficient in using various computer applications, including basic Microsoft Office programs
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally
  • Knowledge of current medical procedures and understanding of basic medical terminology
  • Effective interpersonal skills to work cooperatively with patients, their families, and other members of the health care team
  • Understands and implements HIPAA and OSHA compliance
