The College of Nursing has an opening for a part-time (0.20 FTE), hourly Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) / Instructor / Sr. Instructor / Assistant Professor (Open Rank) in the Non-Tenure Clinical Practice Track at Family Tree Roots of Courage (ROC) in Wheat Ridge. This position is clinic based as a health care provider, 1 day per week, and is hired at the in the Non-Tenure Clinical Practice Track within the College of Nursing.

Nature of Work:

The University of Colorado, College of Nursing, is seeking a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) / Instructor / Sr. Instructor / Assistant Professor (Open Rank) in the Non-Tenure Clinical Practice Track for a part-time (0.20 FTE), hourly non-benefitted position at Family Tree Roots of Courage in Wheat Ridge.  The position will consist of 4 hours of clinic work on Tuesdays and 4 hours of administrative time per week.

Clinic Description:

Family Tree Roots of Courage is a non-profit human services agency providing innovative, life-changing services designed to end child abuse, domestic violence and homelessness.  Rooted in the metro Denver community since 1976, Family Tree Roots of Courage recognizes the intersection among child abuse, domestic violence, and homelessness.  Based on its expertise, it changes how individuals, families, and communities see, respond to, and overcome these challenges to promote safety, healing and stability across generations.

Supervision Received:

Work is performed independently under the general direction of the Family Tree Roots of Courage Clinic Director and authority of the Associate Dean for Clinical and Community Affairs in CU Anschutz’ College of Nursing.

Supervision Exercised:

Coordination and management of volunteer staff schedules.  Student supervision is required during clinical placements.

Examples of Work Performed:

Clinical Duties:

    Provide primary health care to clients of ROC during safe clinic program.Coordinate healthcare for ROC clients, follow up on clinic patients that need lab or medical imaging results or follow-up.Coordinate and maintain community partnerships to support clinical care activities.  Partner with staff/advocates on client/clinic schedule each week and client follow up needed by staff/advocates.Support and coordinate weekly volunteer clinic.
Managerial/Administrative Duties:

    Coordinate and manage volunteer staff schedules.Support recruitment of new volunteers. Order clinical operation supplies. Partner with Medical Director and ROC Director to schedule monthly check-in meetings.Provide education to ROC staff/advocates when appropriate.Update ROC’s policies and procedures related to clinic operations as needed.Assess and support public health needs of ROC.Participate in trauma-informed care and domestic violence training.
Salary and Benefits:

The hiring salary range for each level for this 0.20 FTE position has been established at:

$17,000 - $18,600 annually at Instructor of Clinical Practice/FNP

$17,600 - $19,200 annually at Sr. Instructor of Clinical Practice/FNP

$18,000 - $21,000 annually at Assistant Professor of Clinical Practice/FNP

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:

Instructor:

  • Graduate degree in nursing from an accredited institution

  • Current Board certification as an Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP)

    Current RN and APN licensures in good standing (any state) Could be working toward CO clinical licenses during application process and registered with DORA-Department of Regulatory Agencies.  Must have CO licensures by date of hire.

Current Prescriptive Authority (RxN) Licensure (Any State)

Must have Colorado RxN license by date of hire.

Minimum of two (2) years Advance Practice experience

Sr. Instructor:

  • Graduate degree in nursing from an accredited institution

  • Current Board certification as an Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP)

    Current RN and APN licensures in good standing (any state) Could be working toward CO clinical licenses during application process and registered with DORA-Department of Regulatory Agencies.  Must have CO licensures by date of hire.

Current Prescriptive Authority (RxN) Licensure (Any State)

Must have Colorado RxN license by date of hire.

Minimum of two (2) years Advance Practice experience

A record of demonstrated effectiveness in clinical practice, collegial collaboration, and commitment to a program of scholarship to qualify for the rank of Sr. Instructor in an IRC: Clinical Practice faculty track

Assistant Professor:

  • Doctoral degree in nursing from an accredited institution

  • Current Board certification as an Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP)

    Current RN and APN licensures in good standing (any state) Could be working toward CO clinical licenses during application process and registered with DORA-Department of Regulatory Agencies.  Must have CO licensures by date of hire.

Current Prescriptive Authority (RxN) Licensure (Any State)

Must have Colorado RxN license by date of hire.

Minimum of two (2) years Advance Practice experience

A record of demonstrated effectiveness in clinical practice, collegial collaboration, and commitment to a program of scholarship to qualify for the rank of Assistant Professor in an IRC: Clinical Practice faculty track

 Conditions of employment:

  • Must be willing and able to obtain Colorado RN and APN licenses by date of hire.
  • Must be willing and able to obtain Colorado RxN license by date of hire.
  • Must be willing and able to obtain valid NPI number by date of hire
  • Must be willing and able to obtain valid Colorado Medicaid Provider number by date of hire
  • Must be willing and able to complete CAQH by date of hire
  • Must be willing and able to obtain current BLS/CPR certification by date of hire.
  • Must be willing and able to actively participation in health plan contracts.
  • Must be willing and able to remain credentialed by the health plans and ensure credentialing materials stay current.
  • Must be willing and able to work in a normal patient care environment with some exposure to biological hazards and infectious diseases.
  • Must be willing and able to answer calls when not onsite at clinic.
Preferred Qualifications:

  • Clinical experience in a family primary care location
  • Experience managing/supervising personnel
Competencies:

  • Considerable degree of independent judgment and work priorities is necessary to monitor and respond to changes in a client’s condition.
  • Ability to use computer and clinic software, and to document in EHR, ensuring completeness and accuracy.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively with patients, their families, and other members of the health care team
  • Excellent knowledge of and ability to perform clinical teaching
  • Attention to details.
  • Ability to remain credentialed by the health plans and ensure credentialing materials stay current.
  • Ability to effectively develop and promote practice through participation in marketing and patient recruitment
  • Availability to work evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Ability to handle average nurse practitioner caseload.
