Coordinator/Lead Instructor of YES at SUNY Sullivan

SUNY Sullivan is seeking to fill the part-time position of Youth Educational Services (YES) Program Coordinator and Lead Instructor for the WIOA (Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act).

The incumbent will lead the educational team serving Sullivan County’s disadvantaged in-school and out-of-school youth between the ages of 16-24 years. The goals of the program are to upgrade students’ basic academic skills, evaluate and prepare them for High School Equivalency (HSE) programs, and to assist out-of-school students to graduate college or career ready. The YES at SUNY Sullivan Coordinator/ Lead Instructor will work closely with the Sullivan County Center for Workforce Development (SCCWD) Youth Coordinator, and other contracted WIOA service providers and report to the SUNY Sullivan Dean of Enrollment Management.

The YES at SUNY Sullivan program will serve county students at the SUNY Sullivan campus. It is a part-time, grant-funded position. Continuation of employment is contingent on passing NYSED background check, positive performance reviews and continued grant funding.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor Degree required;
  • Teacher certification a plus;
  • Experience in education, program coordination, and schedule management;
  • Experience with or willingness to work with disadvantaged youth;
  • Bi-lingual English – Spanish a plus;

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Liaise with the SCCWD Youth Coordinator and SUNY Sullivan staff to ensure clear communication and active support of students participants;
  • Work with the YES at SUNY Sullivan Instructor to create and implement curriculum, train tutors, and serve participants;
  • Coordinate tutor and class and lab schedules;
  • Submit all time sheets;
  • Work with the YES at SUNY Sullivan Instructor to review student applications, administer skills assessment tests, and recommend students to the appropriate High School Equivalency programs
  • Administer, score and record the results of the TABE test;
  • Attend Workforce Development contractor training;

The Coordinator will receive an annual stipend of approximately $20,000, depending on experience, and may work up to 25 hours per week, depending on the needs of the program. Part Time Mentor – Tutor – Liberty Partnerships Program

SUNY Sullivan is seeking to fill the position of Mentor Tutor in the Liberty Partnerships Program. The Mentor – Tutor will assist the Director and Coordinator in implementing the Liberty Partnerships Program, an after-school, day school and summer program designed to promote successful graduation, college readiness and career development among high school students. Chef/Culinary Arts Faculty

SUNY Sullivan is seeking to fill the full-time, tenure-track position of Chef/Culinary Arts Instructor for a tenure-track appointment beginning Fall 2021. Applicants should have knowledge of production of food and bakery items with a quality standard for commercial outlets, the whole food lifecycle from farm to table, sustainable food production systems, value-added food production, utilization of our on-campus organic farm, safe and sanitary commercial kitchen procedures, and experience in both Culinary and Pastry Arts. The applicant should possess 5-10 years experience in commercial food and beverage industries and previous teaching experience is a plus. These will be seated courses, taught on campus.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The ideal candidate will be a culinary expert committed to both the art of cooking and innovative teaching grounded in sustainable food practices, bakery production, and commercial food production. Your insights on integrating locally grown and produced food into private, institutional, and professional menus to offer creative, nutritious and healthful eating options will inspire students and the community to make thoughtful connections between farm production, food processing, artisanal products and cuisine. As a member of the faculty, you will be responsible for ensuring the proper use of College equipment by students while in the classroom.

The successful candidate will provide high-quality instruction in all levels of courses within the Professional Chef AAS, Culinary Arts AOS and Pastry Arts AOS programs.

Minimum Qualifications

    A minimum of five years of culinary industry experience and a culinary-arts related Associate’s degree;Previous experience in a teaching/training environment;Familiarity with local and seasonal sourcing practices and Farm-to-Table cuisine;Familiarity with baking production or willing to engage in professional development in the kitchen.

Buildings & Grounds Maintenance Worker

SUNY Sullivan is seeking to fill the position of Buildings & Grounds Maintenance Worker. You will participate as a member of the B&G team in carrying out the day-to-day operations and activities of the Buildings & Grounds Unit. This position performs a variety of routine tasks involved in the maintenance and repair of buildings, grounds, and equipment. The duties of the position involve the thorough execution of unskilled tasks which follow a well-established routine or specifically defined assignment such as snow removal, lawn maintenance, moving furniture and replacing filters. All work is done under general supervision.

Evening and weekend hours may be required.

This position provides reports to the B&G Maintenance Supervisor. It is classified as non-competitive Civil Service and the incumbent is a member of the Teamsters bargaining unit.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and one (1) year of work experience in a position requiring the use of standard hand tools in a mechanical or construction trade or in grounds maintenance or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Completed coursework and/or experience in one or more of the following trades desirable: Landscaping; Small Engine Repair; Plumbing; Electrical; Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC); Carpentry; and/or Masonry.
  • Basic knowledge of: modern buildings and grounds maintenance and repair methods, materials and equipment; standard safety precautions used in working in potentially hazardous situations; the uses of standard mechanical tools and equipment.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn how to properly operate new building and grounds maintenance equipment and follow new B&G procedures.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and follow oral and written directions.
  • Ability to interact well with people at all levels.

Director of Institutional Technology

JOB SUMMARY:

SUNY Sullivan is seeking to fill the position of Director of Institutional Technology. This position provides leadership and direction to the College’s technology services. You are responsible for: (1) oversight of Network Services, Enterprise Applications, Information Technology Operations, and Instructional Design and Online Learning; and (2) management of technology operations and administration.

The Director of Institutional Technology supervises the following staff: Coordinator of Network Services; Assistant Coordinator of Network Services; Coordinator of Enterprise Applications; Computer Programmer – Enterprise Applications; Coordinator of Information Technology – Operations & Service Management; Information Technology Assistant – Operations, and Computer Graphics-Graphic Design/Media Arts Technical Assistant. The Director of Institutional Technology reports to the President or designee.

The position is classified as Academic Support and the incumbent is a member of the Professional Staff Association (PSA).

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate discipline is the minimum qualification; a Master’s degree in an appropriate discipline is preferred.
  • Minimum of four years of experience supporting administrative and instructional technology services, including personnel, planning, software rollout and support, and budgeting.
  • Evidence of a thorough understanding of community colleges.
  • Familiarity with the college’s major software systems, including Jenzabar One or similar system.
  • Outstanding ability to communicate, orally and in writing, in interpersonal, small group and public settings, with people whose background is not in IT and who may not be fully comfortable with IT systems or language.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize, motivate and support IT and non-IT professionals as they pursue initiatives vital to the college.
