The ASU-Beebe Upward Bound Program is looking for a Part-Time Spanish instructor to teach our students conversational Spanish. The Summer Academy teachers work closely with the Assistant Director and Outreach Specialist to assist students in learning outcomes. The main role of the teacher is to develop and implement lesson plans, manage the classroom, and administer assessments to make sure outcomes are being achieved. The program runs from June 1st to July 1st meeting Monday – Friday. Pay is $800 per section taught.

Duties/Responsibilities:
1. Develop and issue educational content including notes, tests, and assignments.

2. Supervise classes to ensure all students are learning in a safe and productive environment.

3. Organize supplies and resources for lectures and presentations.

4. Deliver personalized instruction to each student by encouraging interactive learning.

5. Ensure your classroom is clean and orderly.

6. Prepare and distribute weekly grades to administrators.

7. Evaluate and document students’ progress.

8. Allocate and grade homework, assignments, and tests.

Bachelor’s Degree

Preferred Skills:
Communication- Both verbal and written
Critical Thinking – Lesson plans, setting expectations, etc
Organization- time management and planning
Patience – positive attitude, team player, supportive to students
Technical – computer, Microsoft office

$800 per section

This position will be subject to a pre-employment criminal, sex-offender registry background check. In cases where pre-determined, an additional financial/credit history/ background check may be required as well. Convictions that have been sealed or legally eradicated and misdemeanor convictions for which probation was completed and the case was dismissed, will be excluded. Disclosure does not constitute an automatic bar to employment. Factors such as dates of the offense, seriousness and nature of the violation, rehabilitation and position applied for will be taken into account.
