Position Summary:

The faculty will be responsible for providing student instruction, educational leadership, and the advisement of students in plumbing and heating courses within the HVAC Technology cluster.

*Bachelor’s degree in a plumbing and heating trade discipline, OR, Bachelor’s degree in related discipline and preferably graduate of a recognized technology school in a plumbing and heating discipline. (Minimum)
*Master’s Degree in Engineering Technology, Engineering, or related discipline. (Desired)
*Earned Doctorate in Engineering Technology, Engineering, or related discipline. (Desired)
*Formal coursework in education. (Desired)
*Successful completion of the Pennsylvania Vocational Trade Competency Exam. (Desired)


*Seven (7) years of relevant trade experience. (Minimum)
*Journeyman in Plumbers/Pipe Fitters Union. (Desired)
*Master Plumber’s License. (Desired)
*Professional teaching experience. (Desired)

Responsibilities and Duties :

-Instruct and evaluate student performance in plumbing and heating courses, including, but not limited to heating systems, residential and commercial hydronics and warm air; plumbing systems fixture installation and repair, residential and commercial systems; electrical and controls as they relate to heating and plumbing applications; and blueprint reading and estimating materials. (Essential)
-Write semester/annual assessment reports for student course outcomes as needed. (Essential)
-Assist the department head/assistant dean or designee with program review. (Essential)
-Provide coordination and supervision for instructional field projects. (Essential)
-Advise, schedule, and maintain accurate records on students. (Essential)
-Maintain office hours according to contractual guidelines. (Essential)
-Write and update course syllabi; assist with curriculum review, revision, and development. (Essential)
-Assume responsibility for laboratory development, coordination and maintenance. (Essential)
-Comply with College safety, hazardous waste disposal, and recycling policies. (Essential)
-Engage in professional development and technological upgrading activities. (Essential)
-Contribute to betterment of College through School committee participation. (Essential)
-Contribute to betterment of College through College-wide committee participation. (Marginal)
-Assist with the development of grant proposals and with follow-up activities. (Essential)
-Assist the Department Head, HVAC, in developing instructional material lists, equipment specifications, department budget requests, and assist in planning and development of the master schedule. (Essential)
-Assist in providing tours and student recruitment activities scheduled by the College, School and/or department. (Essential)

Pay Rate / Salary:

Commensurate with credentials submitted as applied to the College’s Faculty Salary System. As a point of reference, the salary range for new full-time faculty hired in various disciplines throughout the College for the 2020/21 academic year is $56,586 – $74,316.

Additional Information:

The wages, hours, and terms and conditions of employment for full-time teaching faculty, counselors and librarians (all regular College funded positions and certain grant/contract funded positions) are determined by the negotiated Agreement between Pennsylvania College of Technology and the Penn College Education Association.
