Description of primary duties and responsibilities::

Primary Purpose of the Organizational Unit:

Primary Purpose of the Position:

The Senior Assistant Director of Admissions/Transfer Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating all the aspects of the recruitment of undergraduate transfer students with the overall goal of increased enrollment and targeted communication. The Senior AD will supervise and provide direction for two (2) Assistant Director of Admissions for Transfer Recruitment. The Transfer Counselor will assist in the delivery of admission and enrollment services to transfer students. The Senior Assistant Director plans, administers, and participates in transfer file evaluation (transfer & first time freshmen), recruitment activities and works cooperatively with other offices on campus to meet the needs of enrolling transfer students and maintain good working relationships with community colleges in NC and surrounding states. The Senior AD will assist with other projects in
the office as needed. The Senior Assistant Director will report directly to the Executive Director of Admission.

Description of Work Continued::

Duties and Responsibilities:

Provide supervision and direction for two (2) Assistant Director of Admissions for Transfer Recruitment
Assist the Executive Director of Admission with the planning and implementation of transfer recruitment and yield activities in the admissions office
Create strategies to increase the overall enrollment of transfer students
Travel extensively to represent the college at a variety of recruitment venues/programs
Select, schedule and coordinate community college visits to recruit prospective students with an emphasis on academically talented transfer students
Collaborate with and act as a liaison with advisors of undergraduate students on policy and procedures for non-traditional credit evaluation, core curriculum, articulation agreements and transfer admission
Respond to transfer related questions from traditional and non-traditional students. Counsel prospective transfer students on academic credit evaluation, transfer credit equivalences and other related transfer issues
Coordinate effective communication outreach for prospective transfer students
Conduct interviews, tours and presentations on and off campus; Review application materials and recommend admission decisions
Serve as the Point of Contact for the 10k Pathway Degree Pathway Program and School of Nursing
Develop and maintain correspondence and effective relationships with administrative contacts at community colleges as well as with students, parents, alumni and other institutional officials & representatives;
Managing a subdivision of the Admission Office (admissions email)
Compile quarterly and year-end reports
Assist with operational duties as needed and assigned; Willingness to work nights and weekends is required.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements::

Bachelor’s degree
2 – 4 years of experience working in an admission office to include thorough knowledge of admissions processes, policies & procedures as they relate to the transfer recruitment process. Ability to effectively utilize customer relationship management systems (CRM). Experience with AdmissionPros is a plus. The ability to interpret and utilize data.
Must have a Valid Driver’s License
Due to the current COVID19 Pandemic ,the employee in this position may be expected to telework and work onsite. High speed internet access is required for successful teleworking.

Fayetteville State University (FSU) is a member of the prestigious University of North Carolina System. Situated in southeastern North Carolina, FSU prides itself in being in one of the most diverse cities in the country and neighbor to one of the nation’s largest military installations – Fort Bragg.

FSU has a rich history that serves as genesis for its current status as a leading institution of higher learning. A year after the Civil War ended, the Phillips School provided primary education to Fayetteville’s black citizens, and the Sumner School provided intermediate education for this population. The two schools were consolidated in 1869 and dedicated in April of that year as the Howard School, in honor of the Freedman’s Bureau chief General O.O. Howard. Seven prominent African-American men pooled $136 to purchase two lots for the first building that housed the Howard School. Robert Harris was named the first principal of the Howard School.

In 1877, the Howard School became not just the first public normal school for African Americans in North Carolina but also the first state-sponsored institution for the education of African-American teachers in the South. It was renamed the State Colored Normal School in Fayetteville that year, Fayetteville State Teachers College in 1939, Fayetteville State College in 1963, and Fayetteville State University in 1969.

While FSU’s roots are as a teacher education institution, it now offers nearly 70 degrees at the baccalaureate, masters and doctoral levels. Many of the programs are accredited by the top agencies. The university’s School of Business and Economics is endorsed by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB). AACSB is one of the most prestigious and rigorous accrediting bodies for business programs in higher education. Currently, less than one-third of U.S. business programs and only 15% of the world's business programs have earned AACSB accreditation. Receipt of this distinguished accreditation provides evidence that FSU’s School of Business and Economics has established itself as a leader among business schools. Additionally, the Master of Business Administration program has been cited by U.S. News and World Report and The Princeton Review as one of the best graduate business school programs in the country.
