Position Summary:

The Assistant Provost of Healthcare Professions guides leadership decisions for all curricular healthcare programs at American College of Education. This position articulates the college vision and ensures the delivery of quality student experiences to enhance personal and professional skills by supporting the core values of the college. Through continued growth, monitoring and development of the programs, the Assistant Provost of Healthcare Professions provides direction, instilling a strong ethical commitment to excellence, modeling lifelong studies and the value of online education. The Assistant Provost of Healthcare Professions provides leadership support for Healthcare Professions departments at ACE. This position supports department chairs and faculty in daily operations and strategic planning initiatives. They are accountable for the quality of the curriculum, faculty, and student satisfaction in their departments. As this position has oversight for the healthcare programs, this individual is required to have experience in the field of healthcare.

Role and Responsibilities:

The Assistant Provost of Healthcare Professions is charged with creating and maintaining an open, collaborative, collegial, transparent and inclusive college setting dedicated to enhancing student scholarship, achievement and success. They are also charged with leading the strategic efforts related to healthcare professions programs and initiatives at American College of Education.


Provides strategic leadership in all aspects related to healthcare programs for the College.

Ensures the vision of “serving others” is integrated in all programs, courses, faculty, and in their leadership practice.

Accountable for high quality curriculum and course content development for courses within their departments. Curriculum must meet or exceed accreditation and ACE standards.

Collaborates with other ACE leaders to grow through proposing new programs within Education Professions domains.

Looks for innovative ways to expand ACE’s mission into new markets through developing new programs and aligning proposals to appropriate standards of excellence.

Leads departments in growth planning initiatives through reviewing processes and systems for efficiency.

Focuses on student success and satisfaction in all decisions.

Represents programs at both internal and external venues, including various institutional functions, state and national meetings as needed.

Serves as a mentor and coach to others in the college to promote professional development and growth.

Program initiatives:

Coordinates academic program reviews and works with departments and offices to ensure continuous improvement.

Builds on existing programs, expanding and improving offerings and initiating new strategies for student experiences.

Works cooperatively with various departments to deliver effective, quality online instruction in compliance with the mission and vision of the institution.

Ensures all accreditation and quality standards are met; collaborates and supports team members in meeting goals and standards.

Leads efforts to form, maintain, and collaborate with advisory boards in the healthcare departments.


Ensures academic policies, processes, and procedures align, and ensure compliance with regulatory statues and accreditation requirements.

Supports program plans and expectations across the college by aligning mission and vision, determining the impact of institutional policies and procedures.

Monitors state and federal regulatory requirements to adjust program requirements to meet changes in standards.

Reviews, reports, and helps regulate decisions related to accreditation, serving as a resource for program development and maintenance.

Core Competencies:

Proven leadership in establishing a positive climate of engagement in higher education with remote leadership experience preferred.

Must support and embrace the College’s B Corp mission to improve the people and communities we serve through our civic engagement initiatives.

Current knowledge of leadership principles and techniques, demonstrating lifelong learning skills.

Competent to manage multiple tasks, under various deadlines, in fast-paced environment with the ability to excel in an environment of quick growth, embracing change and progressive collaboration.

Skill in using Microsoft Office Suite and other appropriate technologies, including conferencing and learning management systems.

Innovative and strategic thinker, record of decision-making, planning, and problem-solving capacity.

Excellent oral and written communication skills along with interpersonal ability to represent the college to prospective or current students and faculty, external organizations, and other stakeholders.

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

Earned terminal degree in a field associated healthcare, higher education or leadership.

10+ years’ experience in leadership positions; 5 years+ in leadership positions in higher education is strongly preferred.

Experience working in healthcare is required.

Demonstrated experience in successfully developing collegial relationships in an online/virtual environment.

Experience working with state boards, commissions of education or accrediting (regional or programmatic) is strongly preferred.

Evidence of professional research and/or creative endeavors and expertise in the field.
