The Department of Curriculum and Instruction in the College of Education at the University of Kentucky invites applications for a tenure track, assistant professor in Elementary Education. The appointment is a nine-month appointment, effective August 16, 2021.
Responsibilities include the following: Teach undergraduate literacy-related methods courses in an embedded elementary school context (e.g., EDC 329; EDC 339); teach graduate-level courses in literacy; supervise undergraduate practicum students and student teachers; advise and serve on master’s and doctoral students’ committees; seek and receive funding (internal and external) for literacy-related research, scholarly productivity in the form of refereed literacy-related publications and national presentations; and collaborate with local schools on literacy-related endeavors.
Qualifications include the following:
Earned doctoral degree in literacy education; certification in elementary education; certification as a literacy specialist preferred; teaching experience preferably at the elementary level; preference given to candidates with experience or research interest in working with culturally and linguistically diverse students and issues of social justice in literacy education; experience teaching undergraduate students in an embedded school context preferred; and collaboration with colleagues.
