Location
Our Kennesaw campus is located at 1000 Chastain Road NW, Kennesaw, GA 30144. Our Marietta campus is located at 1100 South Marietta Parkway, Marietta, GA 30060.

Job Summary
Responsible for creating, implementing, and sustaining innovation and community and industry partnership initiatives for Kennesaw State University and specifically, the strategic priorities for research and economic development. Works closely with the Vice President of Research and other executive leaders to prioritize institutional initiatives in innovation and partnership within and external to the institution including strategy, planning, joint ventures, business development, community partnerships, and the university's innovation portfolio. Develops effective relationships with colleagues across the University and key academic, administrative and other community and business stakeholders external to KSU. Develops sources for, and benchmark other organizations to support the development of innovative community and industry partnerships, assessing the field to identify emerging trends, and recommending new initiatives to grow the organization.

Responsibilities
1. Partners closely with research staff and industry and community members to better understand market trends and to forge collaborations that can benefit both the University, the participating partners, and the regional and national economy

2. Develops and leads initiatives and programs to improve and increase interaction with industry and community members to the mutual gain of the university and the economy

3. Identifies, develops, and expands entrepreneurial opportunities for KSU faculty and students

4. Works directly with faculty entrepreneurs to form new ventures and support existing startups in all disciplines

5. Coordinates campus activities related to economic development

6. Serves as a liaison with local, regional and national economic development organizations and organizations aligned with the University

7. Supports recruitment of new businesses and strengthen existing businesses within the state in cooperation with economic development organizations and government agencies

8. Encourages and assists faculty and other University personnel in developing opportunities for industry collaborations in the future

Required Qualifications
MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED:
Master's degree from an accredited institution of higher education in Business, Management, Public Administration, Entrepreneurship or related field

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Ten (10) years of experience in business and/or economic development, strategic planning and/or leadership is required. Experience should demonstrate increasing responsibility.

Preferred Qualifications
PhD is preferred
Experience in a higher education setting highly desired

  • Able to handle multiple tasks or projects at one time meeting assigned deadlines

  • Excellent interpersonal, initiative, teamwork, problem solving, independent judgment, organization, communication (verbal and written), time management, project management and presentation skills

  • Proficient with computer applications and programs associated with the position (i.e., Microsoft Office suite)

  • Strong attention to detail and follow up skills

  • Strong customer service skills and phone and e-mail etiquette
